Too soon to tune?
Too soon to tune?
I only have 2000 miles on my new 2014 v6 mustang. I already added Bassani axle back mufflers and an Airaid CAI. I'm just not sure when it is a good time to add a tune. Is 2000 miles too early in case the engine isn't broke in yet?
Actually a tune will firm up your shift points quite a bit. You will notice a change. On my last mustang ('12 V6) I just waited until after the recommended break-in stated in the manual. I think I tuned it when I changed the oil at 1500 mi. I don't want to turn this into a another warranty discussion but if you want to keep your warranty safe from even having the chance of being cancelled don't tune your Stang and always talk to your service department before you do any mods to make sure it won't affect your warranty. Just my .02.
It doesn't seem like the tunes are causing people to have warranty issues on the 3.7 engines or auto trans. If they were I'm sure we would hear about it.

Its not about the tune causing problems. The tunes (Bama, Steeda, MPT etc.) are safe and there are no problems that they've caused that I know of. I know Bama tunes haven't caused me any problems over the years on my past Stangs but the issue is Ford can void your powertrain warranty just because you tuned your Stang. Even if it didn't cause any problems. If you do end up having a problem then they will relate the cause back to the tune. Heres the deal tho, there's so much debate over the issue and no actual facts (someone who had tuned there vehicle going in for a powertrain warranty issue) so its totally up to you whether or not you wanna take that risk. You should be prepared just in case something goes wrong even tho it mostly won't.

It's faster, responds better, the power is better down low and power delivery is more linear. Oh and it idles rock solid. I'm not knocking Bama, I ran their tunes for the past 60,000 miles. Just trying to save others some money so they can learn from my experience. IMO the MPT tune is hands down better. There's another user who did back to back dynos showing something like MPT pulling almost 10hp peak more but something like 20 under the curve. I believe it after driving with it.

I'm still on the look out for your stang on base. Haven't caught a glimpse of it yet. Although, I have only been around the Navy side the last few times. I've been seeing a lot of Corvette's though. Probably some new pilots at the TRS

Really? Cause on that tune i havent noticed ANY difference. My car is still under 2000mi idk if that has something to do with it. On the 87P i do see bit of a difference, definitely smoother. But still nothing like what ive heard about the bama tunes. Lag didnt go away at all with the 87S tho
Mother of sweet lord. Holy goodness does that b otch pull slightly more wicked compared to before. The MPT is a very aggressive and powerful tune. My hybrid tune I could easily chirp second gear doing 40 mph in my 2011 V6. With my MPT tune I am chirping at 40 mph and third gear 70 mph. Its throttle response is immediate. Great tune. I also love AM so I bounce back and forth using there tunes as well.
MPT tune is worth every bit of 75.00 to have it loaded up in the ole performance tuner . Op, get a performance tuner. Its night and day. I have an automatic and having the tuner makes a huge huge difference. To the person who wrote something about having a automatic there is little noticeable difference. You have a bad tune because its a mini beast the tune makes your stang.

I dont know if your referring to me in that last part, but another guy i know with an 11 V6 also didnt notice any difference with the 87S tune. He did with the 87P tune. So did i just not a huge difference. Then again i havent really had a chance to floor it much. But i also noticed in your post you said you were running a 91 hybrid.. As for that i never tried the 91 i was given, so if your referring to it being a "beast" with that tune, i dont know never tried it. But i hope it is! I know for sure though the 87S is almost useless lol least in my experience

Havent had any issues from the tune aside from it not being what i expected(and my expectations were not that high lol i basically just wanted SOME difference/improvement). As i mentioned, the 87s is pretty useless, the 87P is decent, but idk yet about the 91, Kona says its good though

The hybrid tune is a combination of the street tune DNA and race tune DNA combined to make the hybrid. Its very sweet and a powerful tune.
