stock mufflers?
i was wondering if this is the stock exhaust for a v6. i know its not the stock hangers but is it the stock muffler? it sounds a little louder than what i would think it would be stock but idk. it was like this when i bought it about 2 weeks ago. i just dont see where the other hanger would go.

That's odd. What year of car is this? There is usually one hangar up front next to the tip pipe and two hangars in the back.
The stock hangar has the little head on the hangar. The other is obviously fused on. Not a very good weld if you ask me. At least they found a suitable place to bolt the retaining bracket.

That's because they have relocated the original hangar bracket. These are the best examples I can find.
No worries, your exhaust is fine. It's just someone was a bit tired when they installed them. They are stock mufflers. If they were GT 500 mufflers they would still retain the original fittings. The welds would be at the ball and socket joint farther up.

An aftermarket exhaust was most likely installed at one time and removed before the sale. My guess it that the retainers were damaged at the time of removal.
It would make sense to do a quick fix then order a new part. Also, Financially better than keeping the aftermarket set up on and or buying/waiting on a new bracket.
You can always resell aftermarket exhaust set ups. Your exhaust is fine. Hopefully they don't rattle.

Here's a photo of the OE mufflers from my wife's 2011 V6, which I sold soon after replacing them with Magnaflow Street Series Axle-backs. They are clearly different than yours.

yeah my tip is different and the stock hanger is different. my mufflers are made by ford though since it has the ford logo on it so im going to see if i can get a part number and find out what it came off of.

Remember that both manual and automatic cars have different muffler tips. Regardless of them being OEM or aftermarket, they are obviously manufactured by Ford.
The question is why there is an extra hangar welded on the front of them?
Yes, Some aftermarket exhaust systems have the hangar close to the tip but that doesn't explain the rusty bracket with no rubber damper and the extra hangar that plugs into no where. Those mufflers were altered.

are the stock v6 mufflers a flow through or chambered design? the ones on mine seam to be flow through. im guessing ford has the part number stamped on to the bottom of the mufflers. if so im going to run the part number tomorrow and see what its off of.

The pic I posted is factory set up. You see that the bracket comes off with only one bolt. Like I said, the mechanic who removed the aftermarket exhaust probably thought the retainers belonged to that aftermarket set up, got lost, or damaged.
Sadly, you have to tell some mechanics to use the existing OEM hangars, retainers, and clamps when fitting a new exhaust system.
Like I said, when it came time to bolt the OEM set up back on, your mechanic "improvised" because he saw no place to fit the inner hangar.
No worries as long as they don't rattle on you. Have a friend stand behind your car at startup and rev. Just double check that they don't vibrate.

well the tips arent centered in the holes in the bumper. its actually way off. i might get my grinder and welder out and cut and re weld the hanger to get it centered.

In that case I would just look into getting another set up. I was going to ask if you can see the weld hangars from the cut outs because I imagine you can by the way they are welded.
You can pick up a set of oem factory mufflers again for peanuts and just swap them out. ( I just picked up a set of Force 2 Flowmasters.)
Either way, you will still need those brackets. Not sure how picky you are but nothing bugs be as much as tail pipes that aren't correctly aligned to the cut outs.
Your car is too new and too nice to have it any other way.

im probably going to get a axle back exhaust so ill just get some of the stock hangers from the dealership and put on with the axle back. one more question, what is this rubber device attached to the muffler?

Vibration damper
Hi southcarolina12,
The rubber parts are to reduce vibration. You do have stock Ford Mufflers because I have never seen any aftermarket mufflers that use them.
If I were you and going to keep my Mustang for a very long time. I would just get new hangers from the dealer and put on a nice set of axlebacks'
I have Magnaflow Streets on my 2012 and the fit perfect and sound great.
