Spare tire vs. tire inflator on 2012 V6?
I am considering buying the spare tire from Ford for my 2012 V6 convertible. Before I do, are there any compelling reasons to just stick with the tire inflator? I would assume having the spare tire is the way to go. I am not concerned about any extra weight. But would anyone think the tire inflator is actually a better method? Thanks.

Buy the spare. I would have bought one on my 2011 V-6 if offered when i ordered it. I had to buy a spare tire set-up (new from my dealer) for a 2010 G.T., cost me almost $500.00

I have been thinking about buying one for my car as well. I just don't feel comfortable without a full sized spare. Does anyone know if a 19 will fit in that wheel well in the trunk?

There's no way its a full size if it fits completely in the well.

So I carry the inflator kit just for the air compressor. The Marauder spare (barely) fits only if I turn it upside down. Glad to hear Ford is offering a factory spare option again - but you still have to be careful about which size (diameter) they are actually offering.

Full size will not fit in the well completely. Sticks up about 3".

I've been considering the exact opposite. Last time I changed a tire was January of 1983.
Thinking of doing a battery relocation to the front part of the well and carrying a quality little compressor and can of fix-o. If that doesn't work for whatever reason I've got a cell and a ccp.
A replacement sensor can easily be scrounged for $50. That dam system's overrated anyway, I'm always on top of my air pressure. I may not include sensors in my summer wheels/rubber. Already live with a lighted 'Traction control off' and 'cruise control on' symbol, anyway.

However, I love some backwoods 2 lane twisties where neither a cell is certain nor waiting for roadside assistance for hours. So for those occasions I bought the mini spare. When I'm just around town I can take it out.

Our 6'er came with the pump / slime kit as well... Switched it out with the one from the 08GT shortly after we got the 6'er. It's her DD and I didn't carry the spare in the GT sense I had upgraded the wheel/tires shortly after I bought her. I feel better knowing there's a real tire in her DD.
I put the pump / slime kit in the GT to support the trunk floor, so I don't have to worry about my gym bag deforming it.

Here is the info to order the Spare Kit, which I think is safer to have.
