rattling when taking off
rattling when taking off
i have a rattling noise when i take off and ive found what the problem is but im not sure how to fix it. its the piece inside that hole next to the exhaust hanger with the square hole in it. its just a piece of metal inside the frame. is it suppose to be there? also i cant find a way to take it out and it wont fit out of that hole cause its 2 big. theres one on both sides of the car.
It is probably a nut plate. if you do not intend to change your exhaust fill the hole with some silicone sealant and that may capture the nut plate and keep it from rattling around
Just cover it with a small piece of dynamat, or equivalent. Same with the plastic on your taillight. My SN95 has little pieces of mat all over the interior (well, behind panels so it's not visible) haha!
the piece slides around in it. its a hallow frame rail type of thing that it sides around in and can go all the way from around the back seat area to the back bumper when i stop and take off.
well i filled the whole hallow frame pieces on both sides and it kept the piece of metal from moving but i still had a rattling noise so i put the car on a lift and started to just checking all the nuts and bolts under the car to make sure they are tight and notice on of the exhaust clamps werent on right, so i took it off and pulled the exhaust pipes together with a c clamp and tightened the clamp back down the right way. no more rattling!
