Performance mods
Yup! Don't let this forum make you jaded. It's a wonderful resource but sometimes you see everyone's awesomely modded rides and become underwhelmed with your own. For example, I can't stand my wheels anymore with all the badass rims on this forum
So darn true and the reality is someone out here has something a little nicer, little faster, etc. if your ride has 400 HP, someone has 550. If you up yours to 550, someone has 700 HP and so in. If you supercharge your $hit, someone out there double super charged it. It's like chasing the end of the rainbow. Someone , some where has new, nicer, faster, lighter, better than, you, me, the next guy. The key is being happy with what you have and enjoying it. These forums will drive you crazy trying to keep up with the other forum members. Punk that.
I love my little v6 so much I felt it was worthy of modding lol. So yeah, out of the box the car is terrific. You can't get so much for so little with any other car. I looked at a lot of other cars before deciding on the 3.7. I was actually thinking of spending up to $50,000, but ended up spending half that for the car. I've also spent $4k in performance and cosmetic mods at this point too. I looked at a G37, Genesis Coupe, BMW 328 and 335i, both Camaros, the Challenger R/T, 370z, Audi TT and of course a 2010 and 2011 GT. The 3.7 outperforms or at least equals all of the cars on that list except for the 335i, the 5.0 and the SS. Yes it's a little slower than the Z, but is faster than its sister car the G37 which is more comparable. However, they all cost more than the 3.7 does. And the beauty of the Mustang is a little bit of mod money does tend to go a long way. I owned a 350z, loved the car despite its rattles, but modding was pricy.

lol. A ford factory item that is NOT designed for his car....I doubt his parents will let him put any exhaust on considering they made him take off the Roush's. Honestly OP, I suggest you just enjoy your car for a while and don't push it with your parents. Most of us on here would have killed for a brand new mustang at 17, stock or not.
+1 here, Michael. I think your folks may be uneasy about a young fella like you sinking a lot of $$ into mods (which you might never get a return on) for an already awesome ride. Sure, it might score some points with other car enthusiasts, but do you really need their approval? Just pay your dues, establish yourself as an independent, and if some day down the road you have the means and the inclination, go hog-*** wild building up the car YOU want!
That's what I want when I get on the throttle that intake will sound awesome!
Respectfully, I think many would disagree with you about the aftermarket CAI only gives you sound and no increased performance. I would agree that a cai without it being tuned is a waste of money but tuned the cai is where its out. Plus the sound of it is awesome as stated by others.
I am so glad you guys get it.. So many 5.0 or nothing opinions out there.. I love my 3.7 and I have not modded it.. YET!! but plan on it in the long run, only has under 5000 miles on it so I have time. I modded the hell out of my last one.

and the new one

I believe that in order for one to really have the cold air intake to fully work you need headers and off road x pipe. You can suck all the air into the engine you want but the air can only be pushed out so fast with stock manifolds and factory cats. Headers and no cats open the engine up to breath and push all that air out faster. A cai is just one ingredient to make the cake great.
