Mustang GT Induction Sound Tube Installation on my 2012 V6

Okay, full video is up now.

My first time putting multiple videos together. And my only editing software is windows movie maker so it doesn't have provision to cut parts of the clips out so there is some non-action parts and the first part is a little shaky. Will have the text article up soon with some more detail. Thanks to cinque35 for getting me his take-off sound tube.

anyway, here you go...

Question: what is the purpose of those molded cavities connected to the intake tube?
The GTs have them as well.

Nice install btw!

Yeah, it's kind of ironic, I hooked the sound tube to a part of the inlet that is supposed to quiet the intake noise!

Bummer - I've already re-purposed the sound tube hole in the firewall for gauge and fog light wiring. To tube for me!

Anyone have a source to buy this tube and rubber clamps? I looked at the usual Ford parts sites, but unsure if I'm looking at the right part numbers.

Tousley Ford - the tub is different between the auto and manual transmission, and the auto version costs a dollar more ($70). I'm sure they can hook you up with the hangers and clamps as well.

BTW, their parts books go by VIN number, so get a VIN off any GT, and use that to order your tube/hangers. It'll go much smoother. Don't even mention you're putting the parts into a V6 - it'll just confuse them.

You definitely could paint the white plastic fitting but since it's so hidden I didn't bother.

Plus, when I installed it the epoxy wasn't fully hardened.

Guess you could re-route the wires, or even drill a hole in the sound tube at the firewall and run the wires through it.

Is the automatic verses standard transmission tube a difference when we install it in a V6? In other words, is the tube shaped different for an automatic verses a manual? I have an automatic V6, so I should order an automatic GT sound tube? Is it a matter of the diaphram (what you refered to as the "TUB" being different) that keeps any air from being drawn into the airbox (air filter assembly)?

Well, I really can't answer that with any certainty (I have a V6 auto as well), but it's what I would do. "Tub" was a typo - shoulda been "tube".

Interesting video but, wonder what this would sound like with a CAI? My car already sounds great with the Airaid CAI but, would like to hear from some brave soul that is willing to drill a 1" hole in their CAI first. I love the sound but still think the CAI delivers a little bit more than just a healthy tone

Okay guys, the full article with the video is available now.

As to the question of auto GT or manual GT tube, I can't imagine what the difference would be. Mine is from a manual and should work equally well on any car.

Still have both filters out?

In the one drive by, I thought the vehicle that pulled out in front of you while you were accelerating was going to get it in the side!
