Thanks for posting this. Two questions:
- Whats the consensus on not having this completed? Like hogasswild, I'd rather not have the valve cover opened if it isn't necessary. Maybe I'm naive but the thought of any metal sanding taking place inside my motor leaves me feeling a little uneasy.
- If one goes beyond 36k miles, would this TSB still be performed? If not, how about with an extended warrantee?

If you don't have it done the noise will eventually get worse as wear sets in.
I don't think the TSB is warranty period dependent, beside, the powertrain warranty is 60K.

The only sanding that is needed is to deburr the cam caps, and it takes place outside the motor and then they are cleaned before re-installation.

Well, as I stated, the powertrain warranty is 60K, it's the bumper-to-bumper that is 36K.
