"crank position relearn" after clutch/flywheel replacement

Trying to find out for sure if I'll need to have this done after replacing my flywheel. Seems some say they had to do it and others didn't... Having to go to a dealer and pay them to push a couple buttons really isn't something I want to do...

There are a few code readers now that have the software to do the relearn.

Search on line and something should pop up.

Better to buy the tool than pay a tool over and over again. LOL

This is the first I am hearing of this. I replaced my clutch and flywheel with a spec stage 2+ and aluminum flywheel. I am getting weird noises when taking off sometimes like maybe the clutch material makes noise compared to stock? It is weird. I am also getting grinding noise like a throw out bearing or input shaft bearing, all of which was replaced. I am just curious you mentioned this because I know for a fact nothing was re-calibrated on my car after the flywheel install.

How do you know if you need it re-calibrated or not?

Well, according to Ford and the shop manual, it should be done ANY TIME the flywheel is removed as it can mean the sensor will not pick up the same exact spot when everything is bolted together.

That being said, I've heard of more than a few people who marked everything before removal and put it all back the same way and had no issues. I'm inclined to just do the relearn regardless and not worry.

do you have an SCT x4?

I got one a month ago or so and I seen crank re-learn as an option that you could do..

I noticed that was an option on my X4, but wasn't sure if it would actually work.

Not sure when I'll get the flywheel, but when I do I guess ill find out if it works or not.

I did a spec clutch and flywheel and did not need the relearn, but I was very careful that nothing moved at all. From what I've read, you would definitely know if you needed it.

How are you liking the clutch and flywheel from Spec? I am on the fence whether I like it or not. Cannot justify the cost pulling it at this point. The mechanic didn't do a relearn for the crank position and I only have an SCT X3 and there is no option for the relearn.

I like the fact that my clutch pedal doesn't stick to the floor anymore and I like that when I bang 4th I don't have to feel the clutch slip for what feels like an eternity. I also did the aluminum driveshaft at the same time as the clutch and it's a bit noisy now. Not sure which is to blame. I did the install myself so it was pretty cheap.
