2015-16 Leather Seats in a 2013-2014 V6

Hello!! I really like the look of a 2015-16 Leather seats and was contemplating how hard is it to get them into a 2013-14 V6 base car. I for sure know that the seat brackets are not the same. I am not sure about air bag connectors.
It will be nice to get an idea about both power and manual seats.
Any insight here will help me make a decision.
Thank you!!

I'm going to try to get '15 seats (Cloth, but still) into my '06, but I've decided that I'll be figuring out how to make the covers work with the '06 frames.

Only thing I see is the backs of the front seat covers have those *huge* holes for the back release lever assembly, but I have two plans to try to deal with those, and the shape of the foam will have to be adjusted for all four backs and possibly front bottoms.

Which isn't even a problem, I did that for my '66 bench seats, in that the foam was a bit done, so I cut and added more to make it work on the new covers. You'd never have known it when I was done.

Anyway, this way, I know the seat will work with my car, much less likely for a problem. Dunno if that helps in any way, but I figured I'd just say it.

Good luck!

I think the first (and most important) thing to check is if the S550 seat FRAMES fit S197. The floorpan studs (rear) and holes (front) must line up perfectly with the seat frame. If that does not match, it is a no-go. You won't even get to the electrical connections or seat covers. The frame must fit first. In addition, coupe vs. convertible might be different, as well. Let us know what you find out.

Not going to be possible. You've got a better shot at shaping the foam to make the 15-16 skins fit the 13 base.

I just did a leather swap on my 16 base GT. I've also done this on a 13 V6. Both seats in my GT are power and the base 13 is manual. Way too much work to get the seats in.

Great info here. So you saying the seats from 15-16 will not fit inside the car as is without modifications to the foam?

Not power seats, but someone on this forum has already put a set of the FRPP Recaros in an S197. You'll need custom brackets fabbed up, but the frame will fit within the S197 floor pan. I can't help you with the connections though. Do a search for s550 Recaro and see what comes up. I have no idea who the person was, but I want to say he was selling the seats in the classifieds here. Might help you track him down.

I am saying it would probably be easier to get the foam molded to fit your 13-14 seats than to try and retrofit the 15+ seats to work with the 13. Probably cheaper too. I would imagine a set of leather seats for front and back going for less than $1000-1500. I bought the leather for $500. You can get the cloth ones for even cheaper. I'd sell my cloth for a pretty cheap price to let you try it.

Thank you for the info Laserred!! But I was not looking to go either power nor Recaro route.

Ahh!! That was really informative. Looking at link. I think this proj is a no go for me as it way beyond my fabrication skills. Neither I have the skill nor the tools to for me to even give it a shot.
