converting base models to premium

I am looking at buying a 2011 and newer v6 and I was looking at the premiums and the base models. The base are obviously cheaper, and the differences are the mycolor gauges, leather seats, ambient lighting, shaker audio, and the leather wrapped steering wheel. I was wondering a couple things...1 are the mycolor gauges a plug and play? 2 if I change the steering wheel will I need extra wiring to make the steering wheel controls work?

I believe you have to get the dealership to sync up the gauges to your car, mostly because of the odometer. I haven't done it myself, so I can't say for sure.

in the end it would cost way more than it would cost to just sell your car and buy a premium.

It all depends....

I concur with SoCar but, it all depends on what you are trying to attain. I bought a Base 2011 Mustang Convertible only because at the time Sterling Grey was slated for extinction and I could not live without a 6 speed stick. I wanted a premium fit but wanted to modify it to be "My Car". In the end, it cost me about the same to do the upgrades as it would to have bought a premium but, I also did not have to undo anything and got a heap of nice upgrades not possible by just getting the premium. If you goal is just to have a premium trim level, save yourself the time and effort and sell the current car and buy a premium trim. If you are building "Your Car" have fun! I love the results and my car is unlike any other out there. Just check out the before and after pics PM me and I can giveyou the list of upgrades and what it cost me. I tell you the GT500 steering wheel is the BOMB

Nice car!
I notice you didn't add the HEADLIGHT / FOGLIGHT SWITCH WITH AUTO HEADLAMPS - FITS ALL (2010-2014) that a lot of owners have done. Goes for about $30 or so. And I believe it's an easy install.

No actually did as part of the foglamp installation kit. I love the automatic headlights You just could not see the switch in the after pics. It is a very easy upgrade!
