Cold air intake without a tune?
Has anyone ever used or gotten to see the BBK cold air intake that doesn't need a tune? Is it just as good or do what it says even tho it doesn't need to be tuned? I was looking at it an want to get it for my 2010 V6 stand cause I don't have the cash to buy a tuner right now.
Thanks for the help!

Here are several that don't require a re-tune:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/airaid...ir-2011v6.html
http://www.americanmuscle.com/jlt-cai-2011v6.html

You may not see a lot of performance increase with one of those, though. I'd save up and get the CAI and tuner together if I were you.

I agree. I got the no tune K&N and really cannot feel the extra 15 horses that they advertised. It has been tripping the check engine light and to me, I regret doing this. So if you want to go thru with it go all the way and get the tune maybe you'll have better luck.

I have the jlt with no tune. It works great. It runs even better when I put 93 gas in. Runs like my friends with a tune. I also add the bassani axel backs which really grows with tourqe down low. Better mileage as well as better performance with these 2 mods.

I'm gonna guess it's psychological since my V6 felt a lot "faster" after I put on the Roush

I'd say the best two intakes are the Airaid intake and the JLT intake. They seem to be the best in class for each generation and have the best fitment, performance, and bang for the buck. Adding one of these cold air intakes is going to definitely pick up some power and throttle response, lower the exhaust note and even pick up a little gas mileage. We tested all of the intakes we sell back-to-back on our V6 on the same day, same dyno, same fuel, same conditions and all of them were within a few HP of each other, with none of them really "standing out". That's why since power isn't a deciding factor, I go to quality and customer support. Airaid and JLT pull away from the pack, there. Their no-tune intakes actually get your air/fuel ratio where it's supposed to be.
With that being said, you ARE going to want a custom tune down the road. This is the best way to ensure that you're not only picking up the added power and torque from the custom tune, but making sure that your car is still running efficiently and properly with the added volume of air.
The Bama intake and tune combos are a really good idea to hold out for. Bama is SCT's largest dealer in the world, with more Mustangs out there running our tunes than any other company. We own and test Mustangs from each generation and have over 30 employee Mustangs on site. We constantly dyno, street and track test our tunes to ensure that they are the safest and most accurate tunes that you can buy. We get hundreds of data logs and dyno graphs from our customers each week that we use to help us make sure our tunes are consistent across the world.
If you need more help picking an intake or just want to know more about our custom tuning, give one of our Bama Custom Tuning specialists a call directly and they'll go over everything with you! They're here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST at the Bama Direct number in my signature below.
Good luck! I hope I've been able to help.

No it wont. I work at a Ford dealership and theres no way to tell unless your ecu is shipped to Fords engineering department. That wont happen 99 percent of the time. Just disconnect your battery drive 50 miles and your fine.
