I'm curious and following along as well.
I found this post on the site that made me question these products.

LOL, proof doesn't come from the manufacture, proof comes from the customer or other independant tests.

We have proved it time and time again, tunes are worth 10-15 RWHP and adding a Intake (JLT for our testing) always nets another 10-15.
All intake and tune packages will net 25-30 RWHP, if one says 44-54, ask them for a money back gaurantee.
As for no tune intakes, the testing I have seen shows they are a waste of time.
Yes, the stock box is good, but you WILL gain more power adding the intake. (after a tune)
Thanks
Jay

Tunes will void your warranty. Even if you go back to the stock ECU it is still on file. Don't tune if you plan to keep your warranty.
I got my airaid for $200 because it was on sale for $250 and they had the $50 cash back up until sept. 15th and they shipped me a $50 bill a week after I sent the forms. Looks amazing and sturdy, got no stang yet to comment on the performance lol

I don't have any scientific data, just personal experience. I put an Airaid CAI on at around 600 miles. I haven't seen any noticable increase in the 0-60 times. Without a tune, the only improvement I have seen is the sound. But the sound is awesome until you hit around 5500 RPM, then it gets a little overbearing.

We've seen between 15-20 HP & 20-30 ft/lbs TQ to the wheels with our CAI & tune. Our heat shield was actually designed to seal to the underside of the hood using CAD data directly from Ford and it utilizes the factory cold air duct. It's made in the USA and features a lifetime warranty.
Let me know if I can help you with anything.

My JLT carbon sounds cool, looks even better but as for "power" I don't know. In all honesty, if it wasn't in a combo off a BUNCH of parts I picked up off a friend I would run a stock air box..

Here is a video from Jay Leno with a Ford Engineer going over the Boss 302, they where they are claiming a CAI won't get you anything.
@ 4:45
I'm sure this is partially just becase Ford says they have the best figured out for the car, and partially taking it as just adding a CAI won't do anything.
To go the CAI route, you really need a tune (voiding your warranty) or some other mods (which will require a tune to get the most benifit) to really get the gains you want to see for the money.
Like they say in the video though, if you just want something in there that will look good, the CAI definately is more appealing than the stock airbox (imo), i just don't think it's worth it without a tune or other mods.
As with most things, if the price is too good to be true ($150 for a CAI), then it probably is. In years past i would jump on deals like this, but anymore, a solid warranty and reputable brand are more important to me. I want to make sure that if the product breaks or causes harm to my engine, that there is a solid company there to work with to fix the issue.

And you can look no further than Steeda ... 0 warranty issues to date when our product has been installed on a customer's car.
We have a tremendous relationship with Ford and we will work with in the case that something does happen ... did I mention 0 issues![Smile](https://themustangsource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Give us a call or send me a pm if you would like to hear more about the Steeda CAI/Tune?
Best Regards,
TJ
