So I'm new to modding. And seeing ppl have their 3.73s, therefore, would like to try to put it on my 2011 v6. However, due to the experience shortage, not sure what brand should I go with. Ford OEM or aftermarket.
Also I've seen something like 7.6" or 8". What dose these mean. And if I need to change anything else while changing the gear.
Thanks a lot.

Well before you decide which gear set to go with, you should consider your options. If you're not concerned with MPGs some people would say 4.10s are the way to go. However others stick with 2.73s because the can get 33-34mpg. If you're looking for balance between the two, 3.31, 3.55 or 3.73s can do the trick. 3.31s are actually a factory option. I would just recommend researching a little more before just jumping on the 3.73 bandwagon. With that said, I really think 3.73s are awesome. Buy FRPP gears.

with 3.31's in my stock GT I get 28.8 hwy, but I plan to go to 4.10's . I ran 3.73 Yukon gears in my 05 v6 and with a tune and crapload of mods avg 22 hwy on an aggressive tune and big tires. The Yukon gears didnt whine but I have heard FRPP is the way to go for best quality.

I have the 3:31's in my 2011 V6, and I get 24.0 to 24.3 highway (cruizing at 80 MPH) and 23.6.to 23.8 in the nasty stop and go city traffic (downtown 5:00 PM Orlando traffic).

Well our highway mileage is the same, but I don't understand how you get basically the same mileage in the city as you do on the highway?

Tons of people lie or dont know how to measure right or go by like 5-30 minute history from the computer.
