2013 V-6 Automatic Downshift Bump

the car downshifts to 1st gear just before stopping and then your jerked and bumped sometimes hard and sometimes never. Or do a slow stop and put in neutral and get ready for the bump/jerk and listen, as it travels through the driveshaft, for the rear end bang. As usually its intermittent making a diagnosis difficult. Dealer tried to fix but no success. Has anyone had this problem repaired by a Ford dealer?

I had that happen on a 2014 vert v6 rental. I have not had it happen on my 2014, but definitely know what you are talking about.

I have noticed this happening to my 2014 v6 auto, sometimes it shifts or hits hard if you are going slow and then try to accelerate. I also have noticed the downshift when stopping, both issues happen once in a while.

This is very common had it happen with a 2014 GT and a 2013 V6 I think its just the engine compression but as long as the car drives I'm fine.

My 2011 v6 does this also. I 'think' the little rpm drop between 2nd gear and 3rd gear is the torque converter locking and the 'jerk' before coming to a stop is the torque converter un-locking. I'm not sure but this is what i 'think' is happening.

I get this too and i hate it!!! Wish there was a way to get rid of it.

Anyone know if gears or a driveshaft swap will help?

I've changed both, didn't help.

It's still better than the auto...
Pull fuse #47 in the engine bay. Do that for 15 mins ghen put it back it. You might just need the adaptive learning to be reset do the shift points smooth out a bit.

Late to the party here, but thanks for the tip Fintile - I will try that.

I just bought mine so probably has something to do with the previous owner's habits. I had to do something similar when I let my brother borrow my previous car.

Interesting...

For those who have IDS, have you cleared your transmission adaptive strategy?

Does pulling the fuse as suggested in the previous post do that as well?

I would not rely on that.

Using IDS resets the correct params, not just relying on volatile memory to be erased when power is lost.

Nope...

It should be under the main transmission menu.

Did you ever get this taken care of, JohnnyMustang2?

It still doing it intermittenly. Left it at dealer about 2 weeks ago for a whole day. They did not drive it long enough to experience it, in fact they only took a 2 1/2 mile ride. They checked the computer for updates found none and sent me on my way.

I’m happy to get this escalated for you if you’d like, JohnnyMustang2. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.
