2012 v6 automatic mustang

Hey guys, new to the forum, have a few questions to see how I could modify my car to make it sound better and I could use your guys expertise on the matter. As you know from the topic what car I have. I want to make it sound better and I already put the intake in it and it obviously sounds better than stock, I want to do the exhaust now, what's a cost efficient way to make it sound better? How should I do this?

All ideas welcome, thank you guys for your time.

I strongly recommend a axle back Flowmaster exhaust. I have it for my 11 v6 and I love it. Great sound. You could also get headers and remove the cats to get a way more aggressive sound.

Would the flow master be a cost efficient way to go? Easy removal and to put the old back on?

Steeda offers a great sounding exhaust for an affordable price:

There are a couple ways to make it sound better but you have to have the budget to do so. PM If you would be interested in pricing for an exhaust set-up.

Best Regards,
TJ

Replacing just the mufflers is a good start and you can easily put the old ones back on.

Have you seen this exhaust guide?

My choice will be the FRPP touring mufflers when the day comes:

I would definitely check out those videos. IMO, the best-sounding exhausts would be the Ford Racing and the Stainless Works. Both are on the high end price-wise, but at least the Stainless Works is a full catback for that price, and sounds mean as heck.

There are a couple of alternatives to the axle-back stuff on American Muscle:

0) LateModelRestorations.com sells GT500 mufflers for $299, and you can pay a muffler shop to adapt them to the V6. Result is better sound, and costs almost $100 LESS than a V6-specific axle-back setup.

1) Pypes M-80 mufflers for $90 from American Muscle, and take them to a muffler shop to install on the car. Muffler shop will charge anywhere from $200-$250, and the result will be better sound with a cash outlay of at least $100 LESS than a V6-specific axle-back setup.

I went with the 2nd option, and they'll be installed this weekend.

This might be the Pypes M-80 mufflers that you’re looking for:

The Pypes mufflers would require it. You wanted a cheap way to make it sound better, and using the Pypes M-80 mufflers is pretty much the cheapest way do accomplish that goal with new parts.

In my case, they're going to cut my existing pipe, weld the mufflers in place, and then replace the OEM mufflers with pipe and stainless 4-inch tips.

Also, you need to keep in mind that "sounds better" is totally subjective. Some questions you need to ask yourself:

-- What volume of exhaust am I looking for?
-- What kind of drone can I live with?
-- Am I looking for deep and mellow or race and raspy?
-- Are there any local laws I need to keep in mind (for instance, removing cats or noise ordinance, especially if you live in a place with an HOA)
---- subset of that -- if you're going to track your car, does your local track have a noise limit?

Can anyone advise what modifications are needed to adapt the GT500 mufflers to the "baby brother"? I had planned to install my own axlebacks; is this installation above my pay grade?
