Lightbulb WTB Sound Tube Cap.

I have the stock intake on my car, and I have removed the sound tube. By any chance, did anyone buy a CAI that came with the cap that would cover the hole for the sound tube, that isn't using the cap? I would like to get the cap that is made to cover/plug the hole in the intake from the sound tube.

If anyone has one laying around, let me know please!

Thanks, I'll check on that. Anyone have one sitting around they want to get rid of?

Not sure, most people on YouTube are removing the baffles to make it louder in the car. Im going the opposite direction. It's useless IMO and I'm taking it out. I have exhaust and can hear it just fine I don't need a tube feeding engine sounds into my cabin. Plus that tube is just one more useless device filling up the engine bay and it's not necessary other than for sound. The JHR website said it reduces 5 lbs, seems a little generous bit still.

$15 for a $.25 piece of plastic? Thats absurd! Only a complete idiot would buy one for $15. I used a cap from a salad dressing bottle and painted it black. Under $4 and I got a bottle of ranch dressing too!

Eggs-zachary! LOL I'm sure lowes or home depot has some comparable items as well! Though I would get some thousand island, but that's just my preference!

RobDis, after you make the change, please report back how the difference in sound is. I am thinking of doing the same.

Thanks.

^ Well, you can test it very easily. Remove the sound tube, then cover the hole in the Intake with 2 layers of duct tape. (Let it wrap over the edges, and wrap electricians tape or zip-tie around the "nozzle" to make sure the tape stays on!) Also cover the hole in the firewall with tape. Free!

I seemed to be getting a low-frequency humming or vibration from mine while cruising on the highway, and it was messing with the bass from my music. I removed the sound tube and sealed the holes, and that extra noise is gone.

*Note: If you try this, you do NOT want the tape or cover coming off the sound tube port on your intake! It will seriously screw up your a/f ratios, because the IAT sensor is BEFORE that port on the intake. You'll wind up pulling a lot of extra, unfiltered air into your intake. Also, you do NOT want that big piece of tape getting sucked in to the throttle body!

Plug it with a HELP PCV grommet. If you ever need to run wires inside the car for gauges it's a perfect spot.

That would work for the hole in the firewall, I'm looking for the cap that goes on the Intake port.

Dorman HELP makes so many of them, do you know exactly which one(s) will fit?

5 LBS?

I'd be more inclined to believe 1 LB.

As for it being useless, that's also debatable. I greatly appreciate the audio feedback. While the exhaust is audible, the increased racket from an uncorked sound tube really helps me with shift points and rev matching.

I'd agree that it's slightly ricey...but I like it.

Thanks.
I fail to understand all this about the sound tube.

If I didn't know that was a sound tube, I wouldn't know that was a sound tube.
I guess my ears are not what they used to be.

Wtb it

Interested in selling that useless sound tube for 35$ including shipping?

That'd be enough to buy the plug kit and lunch money left over!

Here's another thread with the parts list. I recently did this and the list was accurate.
