Will aftermarket exhaust void my warranty?

Hey guys i'm new here I purchased my '11 GT/CS about 3 months ago and thinking about getting some hushpower axle-backs and was wondering if these would void my warranty? Or should I just go to ford and ask?

If you're just going axle-backs...no problem.

Only if they can prove that the aftermarket mufflers caused the issue at hand. They wont void the warranty on the radio as they would be unrelated. But they could void the warranty on remaining exhaust parts. Like hangers maybe, if they see that the attaching points on the mufflers caused premature wear to the hanger. I hear the GT500 mufflers are very popular for the 5.0's, alteast those are made by Ford and then you would have less of a chance with issues at the dealer.

If your worried about it and you have warranty work to get done just swap them out and just put stock ones back on it only takes about an hour or so.

I asked Last week while I was at the dealership to get a key cut. They said axel backs would immediately void my exhaust warranty. I don't necessarily agree though. It would be hard to prove a muffler caused an H pipe to malfunction. On an exhaust it doesn't really matter.

as long as the catalytic converters and headers stay on the car, the warranty on the drivetrain is fine.

obviously if you have an aftermarket mid pipe on there or mufflers they're not going to warranty that stuff but if you put the GT500 mufflers on there, those WOULD be covered under warranty should there be any defect or what not.

If a dealership tries to deny warranty work because of an aftermarket catback or mufflers, it's time to call a lawyer.

They also told me they wouldn't install gt500 axel backs at the dealership and that I would have to go to a muffler shop. That would mean even if I bought a Ford Racing exhaust it wouldn't be warranted. I think I might have a bad dealer in my area.

They are just being difficult because they don't want to be liable if anything goes wrong. They don't seem to understand the system and that is at their loss.

Hi Blackbird,

This is Deysha from Ford Customer Service. Any aftermarket part will not void your warranty. However, if a specific aftermarket part causes a concern, that specific repair will not be covered. You can refer to your Warranty Guide on page 13 for further info. I do recommend you have them installed at your Ford dealer though.

Axle-back exhaust will not void your warranty. Google- Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, which should answer any warranty related questions that you may have...

I think this is BS. I bought the reverse sensors for my mustang from a different Ford deaership and they told me they wouldn't install them because I didn't buy them from their dealership. I had a talk with the Service Manager and he said they would not only install them, but they would be covered by warranty. You should be able to get them to install them. Sorry if I'm too late.
