Who has the lightest 2011+ GT coupe? Who has the heaviest coupe?

Weight is just as important to car performance as horsepower...and many would argue that it's more significant since all aspects of a car's operation(handling/braking/fuel economy/wear and tear, etc) are directly impacted by the mass of the vehicle.

I know my GT isn't the lightest. It's a stripper but I have the heavy 19" wheels and the bigger brakes...and the Boss fascia and Boss exhaust definitely add a few lbs.

In terms of stock cars, I suspect the lightest way to order one would be a 300A coupe, 6spd, no options...the heaviest would be a loaded model with the automatic, 19" wheels and a glass roof, Shaker1000...(possibly a California Special)?

What do you suppose the weight spread is?

For modded cars, there are a few easy items to shave off weight. Lighter cat-back exhausts, resonator deletes, lighter wheels, aluminum or carbon driveshaft, ditching the spare tire, deleting the rear passenger seat, ditching the floor mats, ditching the shock tower brace (if any)...

So who suspects they have the lightest car?
Who has added significant weight?

MY 2012 is fully optioned including the Glass Roof. I also installed a full size spare and jack as well as a JL Audio StealthBoX and Amp. My car's pretty heavy.

Great topic. This was a huge subject on LS1.com back in the day. About like "which tune" and "why'd the #8's blow" here. Subscribed

Yeah...while the stuff you added is undoubtedly worth the extra mass, I suspect you're up there.

We need some data!

I'd volunteer to take my 300A/BBP car to a weigh station but they just salted the roads in northern CT again last night so it will be a while before I can bear to take my gleaming Mustang out of the garage.

Well... yeah. You're right on there.
I posted this in the 5.0 Mods forum but if someone wanted the lightest possible '11+ Mustang coupe, you probably have it.

If I was a V6 owner, I would go crazy with the weight reduction and handling stuff. Even the 3600+lb cars can carve corners well...I can only imagine what a better balanced, significantly lighter V6 car could do.

Same here and I'm dropping weight as we speak. Lighter rims and tires, axel back mufflers, body components...

Mine is a base auto, cloth car with stock 18's. The exhaust has dropped probably 40lbs or more. I had removed the spare tire and jack, but put it back because sue enough I'll need it one day.

I go by the old saying if its easier to remove 100 things that weigh a pound each, than bigger things that weigh 100lbs each.

My car is an '11 5.0L Coupe, 300A with manual trans & Brembo Brake package (just about the lightest possible 5.0L variation from the factory). With 1/4 tank of gas, bone stock weight was 3,540 lbs. per our local truck scales along Interstate 5 (accurate to +/- 20 lbs, supposedly).

My car is... well, look at my sig to see how my car is kitted out, but I know with about 1/4 tank it weighs 3,680lbs. The only way it could be heavier is with an automatic, but then you can't get the Brembo package with its heavy-*** brakes...
