Tunes: Lund, Blankenship, Bama, Lethal, Evolution?

I want to hear some opinions on tunes, tuners, and dyno tuning. I have a stock 2013 5.0 with 3.73 gears and axlebacks. First upgrade I want cold air, tune, and off-road h-pipe. I've already emailed with Evolution and they are 319 plus shipping for off-road h and tune and tuner 449. I've already looked on American Muscle too and I don't really want a Bama tune plus I couldn't find an off-road h.

I knew Lund did the Lethal tunes but I didn't know he did Evolution as well. He's a big name here in Kentucky. I guess only in Kentucky. I have seen a few people with his tunes. He dyno tunes, other than that I'm not sure.

You're talking about some of the best tuners in the world for Mustangs, So I'm confident you'll be really happy with your tune regardless! Is there a reason or experience, why you don't really want a Bama tune? If there's something that happened, I'd really like the opportunity to make it right. Either way, I'll at least leave you with some basic information on how we write our tunes!

For every Bama Tune we ask you 19 questions about your specific Mustang, including your unique mods and style of driving. This info helps us write custom tunes from the ground-up for your Mustang's mods that will give you the most horsepower that we can safely deliver. We're also constantly developing our tunes! Between our 14 different Project Mustangs and tons of street/track and dyno testing (on our in-house Dynojet 224xLC), we're looking for any minor tweaks to be made that can benefit you guys. We're also part of Fords Technology Transfer Program & Work very closely with Ford to insure that all of our tunes are perfect!

Another great benefit to ordering with Bama, is our Free Tunes For Life Program! Anytime you add a new modification, need/want a revision, want to datalog etc.. just hit up the Bama team and they'll hook you up right away.

This is just a few things that we can offer you. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Best of luck on your decision.

-Dan

We are direct with VMP and offer a VMP tuner and SCT 3015 tuner package for 399. This doesn't include the forum discount that we have for you guys.
You'll really enjoy VMP but I will admit Lund tunes are pretty amazing as well.

I currently have 4 Mustangs and a folder with over 30 tunes in it on my computer, many from different tuners. In the end I always find myself going with the AM/BAMA tunes, except on my 2013 GT500 which I use Lund.

As for dyno tunes they are always the best choice, IF you can find a good place. I end up driving 8 hours to get to the closest trustable place, and I live in a very populated area. I wouldn't get a dyno tune unless you know you are where you want to be with aftermarket parts, paying $400+ just to get something new sucks.

In the end theres alot of great places to choose from, but coming on a forum and asking will only get you a dozen differnt answers from people who love their tunes. I just suggest you go with somebody that will do free tune upgrades. There is many, that I won't name, that say they do but only update if you buy their parts from them, and that limits you on what you can do down the road.

AM, free tunes for life for the VIN locked to the tuner, sell the car SOL unless you send the tuner back to the manufacturer to unlock, then you get to buy more tunes if you get another stang. SCT wants to charge 150$ to unlock the Bama tuner I bought before he joined AM, then AM want to sell me more tunes for 150$, considering what I originally paid for the tuner and tunes for the old car and that I OWN the xcal2 why should I have to pay to unlock the device I own, lol. The tunes I understand, but really? If I am mistaken feel free to update me on this... So if you can get the tuner unlocked and plan to keep your car for a while go for it. For the record, the Bama tunes were very good, especially the race 93 octane tune. It was a good base for the local tuner to start with and get more hp safely from, lol.

Kinda had trouble following what you were saying. But, it sounds like you sold your old car and didn't give the tuner to the new owner. I always just give the tuner to the new owner in case they have any issues. If you kept the tuner then you would have had to return the old car back to stock to unlock it, that's the way with all tuners, doesn't matter where you buy it.

I'd really like to hear about some personal experience people have had with tunes on 11-13 5.0's because thats what I have and I'm also interested in a cam tune.

I've only tried 2 different cam tunes, Steeda and BAMA. The Steeda one would stall on cold start-ups and randomly stall while driving, I remember TheDivaDanielle having the same issues. So, I ordered a cam tune from BAMA, it was free so I had nothing to lose. It sounds every bit as good as the Steeda one did, but doesn't have the stalling issues. Last time I checked though BAMA would only do cam tunes if you have O/R mid pipes. I have heard good things from other big name tuners, but I have no personal experience with their cam tunes. Just be aware that alot of places list their cam tunes seperate from regular tunes, so you will have to buy more than one tune.

You could try searching for other threads, since this subject has been beat to death.

They're still big in the new model years, they just decided to stop posting in most forums after they built their new shop a few years ago. They're building engines now too and not just making tunes and selling parts.

Yeah I figured they got pretty busy and stopped posting in the forums. If I do get another stang I will still definitely order from Brenspeed Do you ever plan on going back to the dark side Tom? A new stang
