Tremec Magnum XL
Was watching Speed Channel today. They built the Raybestos Roush Stage 3 Mustang.
They installed the Magnum XL and it was a direct replacement Transmission for the MT82 , It had a much longer tail housing for a correct shifter combination and a direct shifter mounted to tranny, instead of our remote Shifter mount.
It does require a one piece driveshaft and different input spline and flywheel and clutch.
It list for $3495.00 handles over 700 lbs..

The Tremec Magnum XL sounds interesting though...my MT82 has been superb but if I ever go SC, i would strongly consider one of these.

Mexico is better then Communist China, who steal products and reproduce imitations. I hate everything about China.
Mexico on the other hand, I love, especially my timeshare down there. LMAO

Seriously though the magnum is supposed to be a really good trans. A lot smoother shifting than the T56 too.

Tremec does some manufacturing in TN still...but for how long?
Being bigoted against the Chinese is a waste of time. Be bigoted against the vulture capitalists.

Or they could make them in the states pay union wage and the tranny would cost $10,000 take your choice.

So, along with the decline of unions over the past 30 years has come stagnation in wages. The rich keep getting richer but we're going nowhere.
So you're getting your wish.
If the unions were smart, they would start enlisting workers in China and Mexico.

If I ever decide to go forced induction, I would highly consider bolting this in before slapping the supercharger on my motor. For now, I'm doing just fine with the MT-82... Thanks for the heads-up. Oh! And I might have to hold off on getting a clutch kit and 1-piece driveshaft until I make a solid decision on what route I want to go with my ride.

I have seen it mentioned before on a few forums. Sounds like a very good idea... a viable option for a few of us that may just want to fortify or rectify a problematic MT-82 transmission. How and where to get this done is the question, though.

I have to brush up on my knowledge of gear ratios and what I might prefer between the two gear ratio choices that Tremec are offering. Is a rear-end gear change needed for this application?
