Trust me, I'm in the same boat. I think it has something to do with what it has seen when the trackey has been used and transfers over to the regular key, I'm sure the emissions system reads between both as one so Hopefully this update will take care of everything. It's hard to be patient and believe me, the CEL drives me up the wall, but I have faith that it will get taken care of, they haven't given me a single reason to doubt yet.

I cleared the codes twice and they came back with the regular key both times, that's when I started searching and found this thread.

I'd be curious to know what the "certain driving conditions" were that they were referring to a few pages back because it seems like the codes popped up when I would get on the car a little rolling through 2nd & 3rd gear pretty hard, it did it both times.

The one thing that I can be thankful for is it seems like the car isn't running any differently with the codes so I feel like it is safe and that there is definitely just something goofy going on as they have already mentioned.

Looking forward to getting the procal and getting this over with!

I also don't think there is really any reason for you to take the car to the dealership.. FRPP has admitted that there is a problem with the calibration and there is a fix for it that should be delivered within the next week. Take the car to autozone and check the codes, if it is still the emissions/O2 system I don't think there is any point in taking it to the dealer.

I mean this with 100% respect based on your signature.
F-15 Avionics Systems and Gas Turbine Controls System Engineer.
I read that resume as awesome.

You (we) have three choices.
1) Wait for your TracKey/TrackCal update to arrive from Ford Racing Monday.
2) Have your dealer read and clear the codes tomorrow which will do nothing.
3) Have your dealer flash your PCM back to the latest stock as-built and bag the TracKey.

I am choosing option 1.

My CEL showed up yesterday at 650 miles. I read and cleared it which did nothing more than temporarily turn off the CEL.

Once I apply the new software next week I can not foresee any situation where I would drive without the TracKey.

No. He had cats replaced bc they were actually bad. Cel came back. Had the dealer wipe his PCM and then reload stock tune and old track tune (even though ray said not to). And now wants to go back again bc the cel is back.

Have some patents bro. Chill. You are driving yourself nuts. I feel like you're not even reading this thread. Monday you will get a procal and new tune to load right from home. Problem solved.

Yeah I know the cats were bad but I thought he got the updates tune. Makes sense if he got the CEL and he has the old tune...

This is great news, OneBadGtCs! I’m happy to get your experience documented. If you’d like, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, best daytime number, and a brief description of what you’d like to say about your dealer.

Hey guys,

Let me get this escalated to the customer service manager for your areas. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

Deysha, BadGT is giving props to FRPP not a dealer. Regarding the other issues, FRPP has already addressed them and some members are impatient and/or not following instructions. It's not anything that needs escalation.

Thank you, but I think Ray & Mike have it covered! I was just trying to help him understand that we're all in the same boat and just to have a little patience (as hard as that is!)

Trust me. You do not want to document my Palm Bay Ford experience. It has been a nightmare. The Steve B the service advisor has no idea of what a track key is etc. Got off the phine just now to confirm tomorrows appointment and he already told me that if his guys are uncomfortable doing it they will not help me plus I didn't buy it from them. Also said they have not received any update yet and I explained that the update was already uploaded on Wednesday and that Ray will walk the tech through it. My blood is boiling and I am not even there yet.

Is there not another dealership around that you can go to? It's pretty obvious that you're not happy with these guys and that you would probably be more comfortable going elsewhere so why not do that?

The track key still needs the dealer. Not necessarily to install the tune, but to activate the key to work with the second part of the PCM.

By sending out the procal to existing key users, they will simply overwrite the tune that currently works with the track key, let's call it "the broken track cal." With "the working track cal." And the tool becomes a "gift" for the trouble that people who install the key post today (like BadGT) technically didn't go through.

People that originally had the procal tool and track cal tune will probably need to load the stock tune back on via original memory card and then install the new tune via new memory card. I think if the stock tune isn't put back first, the tool will pull the current tune thinking it's the stock and the real stock tune would be gone. It's an order of operations thing since those PCM's only have one partition.
That makes sense. Thank you

Wish I could get one though after all the trouble I have been through and hopefully not going through again when I go this Saturday.
I hope you don't either. I'm in the tech business and I live in the bleeding edge of technology and code.LOL

Install once and hope it works perfect.

Hey Onebad.. Take the advice of others and go to another dealer. I have talked to several around my town and one knew what I was talking about the others did not. I am going to the one that has done a few. Makes for a better experience and less frustration on your part.

Just got back from the dealer in my RENTAL CAR. My right side cat is bad and they are waiting on a replacement which they expect on Monday. So just "clearing the codes" wasn't going to do anything.

When I had the PCM wiped and reloaded for both as built and Trackey the other day I was told by the dealer it was the updated tune already. My dealer read the codes today and cleared them. On the test drive it came back immediately and car was stumbling on acceleration. They noticed when they put the car back on lift that the right cat was dis colored . They ordered a new cat for the car and recommended I don't drive it. I told them to keep it and contact me when it's ready because I have to travel to Atl this weekend. I have a rental provided by the service department.

I have called the next 2 dealerships by me and one had no idea of what the track key even was and the other said I had to pay the hourly rate plus 150 for the software which made no freaken sense because they download it when doing the track key so again, they knew nothing. Basically I know more about the track key then they do. I purchased my car all the way in Kissimee which is almost 100 miles away so I can't really go there for work. Going to give these people 1 more chance tomorrow and hopefully they will take Ray up on his offer to walk the tech through it. This is easy to do. Don't see why Ford is having such a hard time with this.

Hello Deysha, I am going to see how this goes tomorrow which is now my 3rd trip to the dealer and 3rd day that I have requested to have off from work to have this done. All they had to do was cut the key last week and program it to the car and not do anything else because Ray from Ford racing was going to complete the process with me but the tech was not there so basically he scheduled me with no tech there. Now he is saying that if they don't feel comfortable doing it that I am stuck? He said that they have done 2 Boss 302s in the past its almost the exact process so I am fearful taking my 450 mile brand new Mustang here. All I can say is that tomorrow will be the last straw. I will let you know. The appointment is scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30am @ Palm Bay Ford. Serviceman is Steve P. I should definitely be compensated for my time and stress.

So they have a "track key guy," and are apparently familiar with the system that receives updates (although I doubt it since the update is indeed there). But now all of a sudden, they won't do it if "uncomfortable". Their guy that is specific for these installs is even going to have FRPP walk him through it! I smell massive BS. unless they don't really have a track key guy, which means they sent you away last time for nothing.
