Supercharger and install input wanted!
Supercharger and install input wanted!
I have a '13 Mustang GT Premium, 6MT. I'm the original owner. It's got 21k on the clock and has been meticulously maintained. I would like to put a supercharger in it. I originally intended to get a supercharger installed much sooner, but life got in the way. I am fairly handy with a wrench, but I am no where near the skill necessary to do such an installation so I would have to pay to have it done.
I know that both Rouche and Shelby make aftermarket superchargers and that they have close relationships with Ford, but I am hoping to get input on what options I have and what is a recommended aftermarket solution. Are Rouche and Shelby good aftermarket? Are there better options? I am looking for high quality option that I can get fixed and maintained without a lot of hassle since I know nothing about them.
And I'd like a recommendation for how to go about finding a shop. I already talked to a customer rep from Rouche about where to have their stuff installed, and predictably they recommended a Ford/Rouche dealer but I would prefer a dedicated performance shop to do the work. I'd rather have the performance pros do it than some tech who may or may not do it often. But, I am open to oppinions -- maybe the Rouche dealers are full up on highly qualified techs too. I live in the Northern Colorado/Denver area if anyone has a particular shop they would recommend in that area (I'd be fine travelling even a couple hours for the right shop).
Thanks

I don't know of many performance shops in your area that work on Mustangs, the closest that I can think of is Shelby American in Las Vegas, so I think your best bet might be to get the Roush Supercharger and have a Roush dealer install it. You aren't looking to squeenze every ounce of power out of your car and the ease of install I think is a plus for the Roush system. If you do decide to go with a Whipple or a VMP you can ask whoever you are buying it from if they know of any performance shops in the area that would be able to help you out with the install. From what I can remember the way it used to be as I'm not sure if this has changed (and I am sure a Roush owner would know better than I), Roush has their network of performance dealers that are authorized to sell Roush vehicles. Roush will ship them all of the components necessary to make a vehicle. For instance, your local Roush Performance dealer wants a Roush Stage 3, they will order the kit from Roush, and Roush will send them everything necessary to build a Stage 3 including the dash plaque and the dealer will assemble it by their Roush certified tech and build the Stage 3 on site for the dealership to then sell. So by having the Roush Certifed dealer install the supercharger, you are theortically having a Ford Master Tech who is also Roush Certifed installing the supercharger and who has done these in the past on Roush vehicles that the dealership has sold.

Thank you for providing some very valuable information that will be very useful for the OP to consider when deciding on which supercharger kit is best suited for his particular application...
If he should decide to have the supercharger installed professionally? I agree that it would be in his best interest to choose Roush, knowing it will be installed by a Ford Master Tech who is also Roush certified through a Ford/Roush dealership...
