Yeah I tried twisting and pulling the plastic outlet but didn't want to break it and mess up my intake. Maybe after I get back from work in a week I will try again before buying any different parts.

FYI:

2012 Mustang GT

Intake tube outside diameter to cap: 1.5 inches
Firewall Interior diameter to plug: 1.0 inch

Results: its a bit quieter in the cabin with windows closed but you can still hear the rumble at the same sound level.

Blue coil cover are in my future.. I spied them on a Boss when I was in the dealer while signing my papers, and disappointed when i saw the grey covers on the GT...

Love 'um -- very nice!

I didn't see any '13's in here but I'm assuming they have the tube also. Does capping it increase the air flow at all? Sorry I'm still waiting to get my '13 so I can't look

The sound tube only transmits sound, does not flow any air through it.

And I am still looking for someone to send me their removed sound tube assembly...

I'm still debating weather that is actually the case. Obviously no air to cabin, but i think some air does get routed into it. The inside of my tube smelled oily/gassy like a crankcase when I removed it.

I have mine done with plugs and caps that I had in my parts supply. But I would like to replace the cap on the intake with one like you have. I have not made any special trips to look for it but have looked while out and about with no luck. Where did you get yours at?

I found the perfect plug for the intake tube. It has 3 ribs that I trimmed and it looks factory. Picked it up at Lowes.

Buy the kit from cooltechllc.com it may be $14 for what seems like not much. But after you finally find the parts locally you will have spent about $9-$10 plus gas and time going to different stores. That's if you can even find the parts. The autozone by me was out of the firewall plug (I think it's a master cylinder plug if I remember correctly - in the "help" section) its listed in the beginning of the thread.

The hole should be the same stock or non-stock as the sound tube is reused for non-stock intakes no?

If the sound tube is reused then the hole on aftermarket CAI's would be the same size, so the plug "should" work just fine.

Assuming my logic is not flawed. :P
