so I did my first datalog
Get the livelier software from SCT. It's free. You can analyze it with that software.
Download and install the software then open the cvs file in the livelier software.
And it is a csv file not an excel file.
It will open in Excel but it is a Comma Separated Value file.

I thought I can send it to Bama(?) to have them a look see. But at 97 meg, I can't attach it to my email.
You'll want to contact your tuner and see what they want you to datalog. They should also tell you what logs they want such as VMP did when I got there mail order tune. They won't be to big to email.
"To datalog, warm the vehicle up first. To start datalogging turn the Key On, with laptop and tuner connected, hit the green button in Live Link (upper left hand corner), start the car without turning the key back off, and let it log for 30-60 seconds at idle, longer if the engine is cold. Then, slowly rev to 5000 rpm over a period of 30 seconds in neutral, very slow, not quick blips. Stop datalogging (red button) and save this file (File Menu > Save Datalog As...).
Then run the vehicle at WOT through 2nd, OR 3rd, OR 4th gear, NOT ALL! (pick only one, the higher the better), this can be done by selecting the gear using the shifter in an auto trans car. Do not exceed the speed limit or break any laws while doing this, if the car has too much power for the street it should be logged on a dyno. Do this from a very low RPM, about 1000, up to the vehicles rev limiter. Only send one or two short logs. Checking the items only makes them display on the graph, all items listed are getting logged. If you have a wideband wired into the tuner don't forget to correctly configure the analog inputs. If you run the car on a dyno make the pull in 4th gear starting at 1000rpm. Do not send more than two logs or repeats of the same thing. If the vehicle is boosted make sure the A/F does not go above 12.5-13.0 for more than a second while at WOT. Save the datalogs under the File menu of Live Link."
Below is what VMP wanted me to log while doing the above instructions
RPM
Short term fuel trim bank 1 and 2
Long term fuel trim bank 1 and 2
Measured AFR bank 1 and 2
Load
MAF frequency
Battery voltage
Etc actual angle
Fuel pump duty cycle (Shelby only)
Spark Advance
Knock sensor
torque source
Coolant temp deg F
Intake air temp F
Air control temp 2 F (supercharged only)
On 5.0L mustangs:
variable valve timing intake cam angle
variable valve timing exhaust cam angle
Auto trans:
gear ratio or commanded gear

You only need to record a handful of data parameters, and you only need to be recording for a brief period of time - usually a WOT run through a gear or two, and possibly a quick cruise around town for 60 seconds or so.
Do anything more will result in the excessive file size you ended up.

If you know how to manipulate a spreadsheet there's all sorts of good info you can get and view. You just don't want to send a big data log to your tuner. I've run data logs for as long as an hour of driving in various conditions and pulled info such as time/RPM/AFR.
