Replacing springs only?

Replacing springs only?
More than likely a silly question, and my apologies if this has been covered already.
I'd like to drop my new 5.0 an inch or 1.5. Can I just replace the springs or does the whole suspension need to be swapped? I know that the suspension is different in the 2011 than the 2010 so who knows if there is enough info out there from those who have tried it.
I'm not going to be on the track or strip anytime soon so it isn't a huge issue if I were to lose some performance, but i don't want to chance bottoming out during normal driving.
Any opinions/advice is welcome.

You can do springs w/an alignment and be good. But it's more economical to do it all (shocks + struts) while you're at it. Don't go lower than an inch, it makes everyday driving very complicated.

So far:
Ford -1"- haven't been tested yet.
Rouch extreme lowering-1 in. -1 1/2 rr. are made for factory shocks etc. Probably needs alignment though.
Evolution Perp. sells an H&R set -.75 that I am also going to look into.

Thanks. The idea is to not have swap out a seemingly great, brand new suspension if I can just buy the springs for a few hundred and get the look I want. Just want to make sure that the original parts can handle the new springs without complications.

It can be bad....
You'll need to back up steep driveway inclines and be constantly aware where your nose is so you don't bang it on a concrete block while parking at a convenience store and speedbumps are a pita.
Headers may or may not tuck under the frame rails, so the only answer is a shorty header. Also, some automatic car washes have a raised track that can scrap the bottom of the facia. My advice? get an inch drop, it saves alot of worrying.

Its the "40" part thats the problem! 40 is a little too thin IMO unless she's dropped 1.5
But i'm just beeing picky at this point. I cant wait to get it!

The "40" means the sidewall is 40% of the section widht in height, so the 275 will be a little taller, like .7".
May make enough difference for you, may not.
I've ordered pretty much the same car as you: Canadain, grey, 3.73's, Brembos. I've been thinking about the 1" drop Ford springs but since I heard the Brembo cars have specific springs, I may try to live without them.

You really dont want to change your tire height by more tha .25", All wheel and tire packages regardless of rim size (17" thru 22") are almost the same size in overall height. Google "plus sizing tires" and you'll get an idea.

So to answer OP, i'm checking out different approches right now. I'm leaning towards the FRPP 1" drop on my 5.0 with those RTR 19x9.5 wheels i have on order. I would probably go with 275/35's for the rear, and 255/40's for the front, or 285/35's and 265/40's.

What can I say, a loss is a loss and now it's time for baseball...
I got tired of all the guesswork and went with a wheel, tire and spring combo that I knew would work. But some work better than others, and if I were a rich man, I'd change over to Steeda 1" drops; if only for drivability, and I still may do that.
