Racing Gas

I love the smell of 110 racing gas. Will a gallon or two of racing gas in my 2014 Mustang GT hurt the motor. I love the smell of the exhaust when buring racing gas.

Need some feedback.

With unleaded race fuel, if it is not oxygenated, then it won't hurt anything other than your wallet. Obviously, you probably won't see any gains without a specific tune for it. If the fuel is oxygenated, you can end up running lean without a tune for it. Oxygenated fuels change the stoich point.

It has great cleaning properties and will clean the carbon and sludge right out of your engine, but that will clog cats, so a catless exhaust is required.

The ceramic insulator on spark plugs will pit and corrode hence the frequent 10k-15k mile replacements prior to unleaded fuel...back in the day.

I run it sometimes to clean it out and it runs so smooth, but only at the track, never on the street.

I don't know what it would do to O2 sensors.....hmmmmm.

Leaded will not play nice with cats and O2. And you would see no benefits. If you tune the car for race fuel then you can gain lots of power tho.

If you want something that smells good

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Plus-F...-/151276794646

Plus, Leaded fuel will kill your cats and o2's like stated before. If you MUST run high octane, run 100LL

Matt,

No no to the 100LL . It has enough lead in it to kill the o2's and cat's. There are lots of good choices for unleaded race gas out there from 95 to about 112 octane. Don't know whay a person would run it for the smell but I guess that's a personal choice...

Only 1.2-2.0 TEL per gallon. (Better than the 3+ of 100)

I also wonder the same thing, who would even think of making a product like that? (They must drive a honda)

Ya, perfume the gas so the exhaust smells like race fuel. WTF, I've heard it all now.

100LL still has more than enough lead to glaze and kill the o2 sensors and cats. I wouldn't do it, especially at the replacement cost of those pieces. If for some odd reason a need did arise for high octane gas beyond 92-93, there are good viable lead free options. Just my opinion. And no, like you I don't think the smell of the exhaust counts as a valid reason to run fuel octane beyond what the engine was designed for or can put to good use.

limburger cheese and garlic on the exhaust manifolds and voila high end restaurant aroma??? I used to cook my lunch by wiring it to the exhaust manifolds of the diesel machine I ran underground. Timing was everything because those manifolds were hot!

I ran 100 octane(unleaded/no xylene) in my car once. Didn't have any difference other than what seemed like a smoother idle and a slightly cooler engine bay.

It wasn't a cheap experiment lol. $8.879/Gal.
