Problems w/ exhaust & sync/voice commands???

I know that few of us have had time to upgrade our exhaust, but I'm looking at options and I'm concerned with it affecting the voice commands from the electronics package. Anyone have experience with upgraded/louder exhaust and voice commands??? Please share!

Oh please, let there be stories of "The car accidentally called my girlfriend... while my wife was in the car."

While slightly tragic, it would be very hilarious at the same time.

/Seriously, I am understandably curious if there *are* stories...

The real answer is there would have been *PLENTY* of threads what had this issue, if it was an issue. Sync has extra-noise stripping (probably with more than one mic) so that any noise, whether it's a louder exhaust, siren, or baby crying, isn't going to be 'heard', and only the driver (and perhaps passenger) is. Also, it's a pattern recognition system. There's only so many different ways to say 'seven', for example, so all it has to know is those variations, and anyone can use it. Which is really what amazes me when I speak to a 'new to me' voice recognition system and it just knows what I wanted. Pretty heady stuff, and they've been workin' on it for a long time.

Side track: One of the hardest accents for those systems? Southern drawl. But they've even got that figured out.

Bottom line: I would not worry about it. Get your exhaust and have fun!

I've got to speak up pretty good with all the windows and moonroof open in my mom's '10 Escape. The phone I haven't tested yet, but if you lean a little closer to the mic and say it, even with all the windows open and what not, all should be fine.

You'll have more problems with the windows being down or AC on full blast... than with the exhaust.

I found that in my 10' Edge the louder I talk, the more it questions me....? I already get that at home!

My 09 Focus definitely has issues with windows down. I drove 2 2011 Mustang GT Convertables that had no issue with the top down at all.....although I did feel a little foolish using sync at stoplights! My 2011 Gt Coupe has no issues with the windows down.

I just started using my Sync system last night. Definitely easier to drive a manual and talk to someone..hah

But, I'm surprised it didn't ask me to Press 1 for English.
