Over Axle vs. cut out resonator?

I've been thinking about doing this for a while and I'm torn between just having the resonators cut out or going with new OA pipes.

If I do the OA pipes I could always go back to stock if I hate it or it's too loud.

Is there any difference in sound from OA pipes which would be smooth 2.75" vs. cut out resonators which would be a 3" pipe inserted where the resonator was? I'm imagining the 2.75" to 3" back to 2.75" creating some difference from the all 2.75" OA pipes.

What do you guys think? Anyone have GT500 axle backs with either of these combinations?

All i know is that it sounds ten times better with the res. delete than with just the gt500,s and res., i have them cut out with 3 inch welded in! I doubt if the sound will be much different with which ever way you choose to eliminate the res.

Definitely buy a pair of over axle pipes, they will not only sound a lot better with any axlebacks but if you ever decide you don't like the resonator deletes you can always just switch back to the stock OA pipes

I bought a set of '14 GT500 OTA take-offs with <1k on them, practically brand new. They're the exact same as our OTAs minus the resonators, so you have OEM fit with no clearance issues. Made my GT500 axlebacks come alive. It's actually only slightly louder but with a nice, throaty growl now.
