options to make gt500 exhaust louder?

Ok so i have had my gt500 axlebacks for over a week now. I love the tone of it, but I wouldn't mind them being a little bit louder, keeping the same tone (no I don't want roushes LOL). So i know I can cutout the resonators, but is there anything else I can do?

Is there an x or an h pipe that I can get that can get me there? Or is cutting out the res's the best way to go? FYI, I want to keep my cats, and also don't want a tune of any sort...at least not at the moment.

Thx

I've heard some clips of those with lethal performance's x-pipe that sounded real good.

Sounds great! Does the x-pipe involve the removal of cats or resonators? And how is the fitment and quality of this piece? Cost? And is the benefit purely Audio/Sound only and no gains?

Removes cats. Fitment and quality are good. Not best that I have ever seen but no issues installing. Passenger side is a little aggrivating.

I don't recall the exact power gain, but yes there is a small amount. You will need a tune.

I started with a Hushpower. Liked the tone, but needed louder. Went with a Lethal off road h-pipe. A bit too loud and horrible drone. Swapped out Hushpower for GT500 mufflers, and found the perfect combo. Nice tone, hear the exhaust inside and out, no drone, get compliments...

I wanted that combo but requires a tune correct?

OP, just spend the $40 and cut your resonators out.

Interesting options...but my preference for a couple RWHP and a bit more noise doesn't justify making my car emissions illegal...in my opinion.

Plus...you will be sending more raw fuel into the atmosphere...if you care about that kind of thing.

I posted these on another thread, but here is my car with GT500 and Resonators cut. I had the wife drive while I filmed in a few to give a perspective of sound under normal driving/load.

Raw fuel in the atmosphere = great smell. Nothing compares to an uncatted mustang...

The tone will differ a bit with any change you make. Ex. someone I know had a 5.0 with Corsa extremes and changed the mide pipe 3 times till he got what he wanted (corsa x, catless x, then catless h).

Also, to me youtube videos don't do any exhaust justice. You really need to hear in person to tell if you like or not.

Remove the resonators. That will yield the biggest increase in sound. The stock H pipe, GT500s and no resonators is pretty vociferous. I added a 3 inch X pipe (after cats) and it actually quieted the exhaust down.

I know this might be the best option, but I just keep worrying about permanently cutting out the resonators on my brand new car. I know it will sound good.... but I dunno. And if I EVER wanted to put it back on, they'd have to do more welding and more cutting to weld an extra short length of pipe to get it back on.

That is true, but going to an offroad X or H will require something more invasive...a tune. A tune that will void your warranty. So, it is a real toss up.

You have a third option. That is, order the H/X and resonatorless pipe setup from Heartthrob (or Jeg's, who sells it under their own name). Then you are getting the benefits of a good flowing X or H, and pipes that already have no resonators. JPC also sells just the pipes in case you want that option. That way, you can replace the factory exhaust any time you want by just bolting it back up.

I have my stock exhaust chopped and welded. Hell, my X pipe is welded in too...which made me cringe a bit when I had it done. My car is a month old and has 2400 miles. You get over it.

You could just switch to Borla S-Type or ATAK mufflers. A little pricey but are louder than the GT500 mufflers.

Cool, I've been debating doing this for a while now, might have to finally bite the bullet and have them cut out. Sounds really good
