Oil separator?
Oil separator?
On a stock 2013 GT would you say it is a strong recommendation to add one? Or not really required? I know it is recommended if I add a tune to add an Oil Separator as the oil in the intake can effect the fuel octaine but should I add one on a stock 5.0 ?
Regardless of modifications, I would recommend a separator of your choice. Bob's is popular with many Mustang owners:

I'd strongly recommend one. I drove my car straight home from the dealer and installed it first thing. Even though the car only had 20 kms on it there was already significant oil in that passenger side pcv line. I'm running the Moroso. As the car broke in there's been less collected, about an ounce every 1500 kms or so. But I still wouldn't run without it.
I did a comparison over the summer along with another member of the RX can. I had great results compared over the other setup I tested, and the other forum had great results with both.
In my testing, I collected about 3-4 ounces of oil over just a couple hundred miles during a couple track days at a local circuit that is very heavy acceleration and braking between 40-80mph. At Watkins Glen, a higher speed track with long WOT periods, I only collected ~10mL or so if I remember correctly. But better to have that collected that ingested regardless of the quantity.

I would put one on if you are going to mod and plan to keep the car for awhile. I ran Bob's oil separator on my bone stock 2013 GT and it caught quite a bit of oil. It's a good first mod!
An oil separator was the first mod I did to my 14 GT when I first got it. Like others have stated, as my car got broken in, I catch less oil in the can but I'm glad to have one to prevent as much oil and oil residue as I can from entering the intake.

I put a Moroso catch can on mine when I had less than 100 mi. on the car!
IMO this should be every body's first mod!
I also think the Moroso or bob's are the 2 best!

Has anyone used the steeda oil seperator? I'm looking at buying this one.

Can you post which breathers you're running? I have a Bob's on my passenger side, but thinking about running breathers on both sides now.
Unless something is different, You have to cut the stock hoses and connect them to the Steeda unit. I didn't feel comfortable doing that due to my limited mechanical abilities haha. If you cut the length wrong, you're screwed. I ordered the JLT one because it comes with the hoses. Plug and go. If you're more mechanically inclined than I am and feel comfortable cutting your hoses to proper length, get the Steeda. The can is excellent quality.
