I see the website has been updated to get the whole shifter package for $390. It says it won't fit cars w/aluminum shift ****. Since the entire shifter is being replaced, what makes it still not work with the aluminum shifter cars? do they have a different boot or something?

I didn't specify for my car to get built with an aluminum **** option when ordering so I assume it will not have one? I had one in a previous car and I literally had to get one of my brother's old golf gloves to wear on my right hand during the summer because of how hot that **** would get.

The aluminum **** comes in the 401a interior package with the striped seats and lil pony on the door panels as well as the darker dash or at least that's how my 2011 came. i think the adapter for the shifter boot and **** as a lil different if you are replacing the leather wrapped standard shift ****. But i am not exactly sure.
As for the glove thing YOU Betcha and it is the same in winter with frozen hands

wally10- Make sure you installed the boot like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUGeg...&feature=feedu If you didn't it will cause extra noise, and will also give you reverse issues.

FastRedPonyCar- Yes, I will edit the website to give an option of a complete package with the shift ****.

Rodmoe- The 401a ball will work perfect with our shifter.

Thanks for the orders. I have already started shipping them, and the shifters will be going out tomorrow.

yeah...I thought about wrapping the bottom boot around that but it's almost impossible with the shifter installed....I'm not too worried about the noise...just keeping my hand off the shifter. (unless shifting of course).
I'm sure the bracket will solve a'lot of NVH problems.

how is it somebody thinks they supported you by not buying your shifter....what other products do you sell to 5.0 owners ? I support you emotionally and verbally so you should offer me a discount.
never mind your tooling & setup...we don't take that into consideration.
some people just don't understand supply and demand.

I'm starting to think that it is very important to have the shifter boot installed properly so it doesn't walk up and get pinched....right?
maybe that's why it's so hard to get it into reverse.
I watched the original video several times to study the install. no mention of how important this is. hmmmm redo the video !!!
or add to it...I guess it would be kinda hard to show it in the video with shifter still installed.

allrighty....confirmed....the boot was not wrapped around the bottom base of the shifter .....wow..only took 10 minutes but my hands are cramped up from doing it.
it was getting pinched and wore a small hole in the boot so I turned it so the hole was on the pass side of the shifter....no problem.

that video is a must watch !!!

My previous post was not about cost, but rather about principle. Other vendors use forums like TMS as a springboard to get their products out and let the word of mouth solicit their items faster and farther than print media will. There's evidence of that right in this thread. Those of you who have/will have the bracket are proof positive that the formula works.
On the other hand, for the "free" marketing we provide as forum members, not doing a gesture of good faith, such as a group buy for a product launch, is somewhat disrespectful IMO. It's a give-take relationship. Even if it was $10 off for the first 14 days, it would be a good gesture as a vendor on here.

Now, that said, after looking at such a piece, and putting together the facts, offering something like $10 off would be no big deal for Barton. If they can easily give $29 off for those ordering a short shifter, then $10 is a drop in the bucket in return. It's a great way to get the word out quickly and spread buzz about something like this.

DaddyD, Jim - It's a $29 difference, not a $29 part (not MSRP at least). Trust me when I say this, I wouldn't buy a $38k vehicle and mod it if I didn't have the financial stability to do so.

Hopefully you understand my position on the subject. You may not agree with me, but that's my $.02

Can I ask, what is the thread pattern on the shifter?

I want to order teh $349.00 package, and then order a custom **** from Grabberpony... but I dont know what Boot Adapter and thread pattern to order for the ****.

I have a 5.0 Premium, 400A --- I didn't have the 'nicer' **** from the factory.

As far as I know, the stock **** fits. The thread pattern is the same regardless of 400a or 401a. The only difference is the boot and the spacer.

Wally10- Yeah, that boot has to go around the bottom of the shifter, as you found out if it doesnt you get noise and the boot gets pinched when going into reverse.
5 minutes into the install video I mention the bottom of the boot going into the groove at the bottom of the shifter. I had some phone calls from guys having troubles with the boot so I pulled the shifter out of the car and made the other video a little more clearly.

The thread pattern is a M12x1.25 its the same for both factory *****.

Thanks for all the orders.
