Uhh there's no heat shield with the stock shifter. It's an add-on by MGW.

Yeah Ford could have done a much better job with the trans and clutch, but then it wouldn't be such an affordable every man sort of car. As for the engine tick, as long as it isn't doing damage don't worry about it. My car ticks, the brakes squeal, the diff whines, it just is par for the course. As long as you long the car don't worry about the little quirks it has.

Reviving the thread;
Blowfish Racing has just released the Rev. 2 for the shifter mount to eliminate the rattle some have experienced. The cost of the Rev. 2 part is $40.00 + shipping, but he will give you a $40.000 credit when you install the new piece & ship back the original piece. He has 20 units available now, with more due in next week.

MGW has an upgrade offer for their Race Spec shifter. They recommend mounting the Race Spec shifter to the body, which would preclude the use of the Blowfish Bracket.

Just placed my order for the retrofit kit, great customer service and very collaborative.

Now I just hope it will resolve the vibration/buzzing issue at high RPM.

The race spec 2 comes out soon. Might wanna hold off. It's gonna be Bluetooth enabled so you can shift via sync.

Pressing button...

"Sync please say a command"

You: ...third gear!!!

Sync: I did not understand you...Say one after the tone for John Mayer, say two after the tone for Queen Latifa, say three after the tone for Pharrel.

You: FML third gear!!!

Sync: Sync has detected a new device...for your safety please stay alert to current traffic and road conditions and use syncs voice activation feature while driving.

You: (calling steeda)... Hi I was calling to see if you had a 11-14 tri-ax shifter in stock? Yes I know it's notchy as ****...when can you ship it?

Did you install the tri ax yet? I'm interested to hear how the combo works with the bf bracket.

I have a beta version of the mount Blowfish is now selling and it is much better, the vibration is lessened but still there, the rattling however seems to be completely gone. You're in MD right, if so there is a big meet tomorrow at 200 clear view ct churchville md 21028 which I should be attending. If you find your way up there I can take you for a spin to see how much noise if any the mount induces.

Received my Rev. 2 Blowfish Racing bracket on Friday & installed Saturday.
Will have to say, it has eliminated the 'rattle' I had experienced with the original mount design. The vibration in the shifter is reduced as well. No changes in the improved shifting the original bracket provided, still a big improvement over stock.
I am running the stock shifter on mine.
Sent the original shifter mounting blocks back to Blowfish, as they will refund you $ 40.00. All it cost me was shipping.
Would recommend the Blowfish Bracket to anyone using the stock or Barton shifters.
The Rev. 2 mounting bracket will not work with the MGW shifter, but very few using it have reported any noise with the Blowfish Bracket.
