Need a little help please...
Has anyone put a 2011-2012 stock original equipment 5.0 manual shifter **** on a 2013-2014 ???
There is a 1.25 inch stem (or pedestal) that is attached to the bottom of the 2011-2012 stock shift **** that does not appear to be able to be removed. When the 2011-2012 is installed on a 2013-2014 it leaves a pretty big gap between the base of the stem that is attached to the stock 2011-2012 5.0 shift **** and the top of the black plastic disc that is at the top of the 2013-2014 shifter boot.
The original 2013-2014 shift **** is about the size of a quarter or a 50 cent piece. The base of the 2011-2012 stem that is attached to the bottom of shift **** is about the size of a dime, and the opening at the top of the shifter boot on the 2011-2012 is about the size of a dime.
The piece that is sold by American Muscle and other companies is made to take up the gap from an aftermarket shift **** that does not have the stem/pedestal attached to it like the original stock Ford one does.
I need a solution to take up the gap between the large 50 cent piece size black plastic disk that is at the top of the shifter boot on the 2013-2014 to the base of the dime size stem on the bottom of the original equipment Ford 5.0 2011-2012 shift ****.
Does anyone have a solution for this please?

You need a Boss 302 shift boot. What you're describing isn't a model year issue but that the shift ****/boot from a Boss 302 or 401a GT is a ball type with a smaller collar. Standard *****, or the "thumb", have a wider base and thus a different shift boot to match.
Here is where many get theirs. FYI changing the boots without breaking tabs is tricky: http://www.partscheap.com/mobile/product.aspx?ProductCode=br3z%2D7277%2Db&404;http://www.partscheap.com:80/Mustang-Leather-Shift-Boot-p/br3z-7277-b.htm=
