A little TPMS info

A little issue I had with my new wheels.

Thought I would share my TPMS experience. I forgot to order them with the wheels so I bought 4 new ones from Fomoco. Since I bought the wheels w/tires mounted, I simply deflated, broke the bead on the stem side, pushed the tire down enough to barely get the new sensors in. Inflated back up and mounted them on the car. No error light or anything. I did damage one stem and it was barely leaking down so I tried a Autozone sensor to replace my Ford sensor. It triggered a code, so Ford sensors are self learning, Autozone ones are not. I have to replace it back to a Ford sensor.

bought a set of factory sensors brand new in box for $100 off the bay, and there were more. They self sync.

Something I've got ask, does the TPMS system on the newer Mustangs give the pressure for each wheel or is the same dumbed down system on the 05-09 cars with just a light to tell you that one of the tires are low?

On OEM TPMS there's a screw to remove the TPMS from the stem and you can buy stem separately to fix any leak.

I have read members just buying a stem kit and swapping sensors to their new wheels.

Ouch! You would be surprised at how little those stems really cost, I think a little less than 2 dollars a stem.

Even worse are the regular valvestems, less than a quarter for the 1.25" or 1.50" stem
