Is it necessary to buy the $30 cleaning kit from JLT, or can I use a K&N cleaner kit that I already have? I know what JLT will say but to me, a filter is a filter.

thoughts?

K&n will work fine. Done it on a buddies. He didn't want to order the kit so he went to autozone and bought the k&n kit.

This just reminded me I should clean mine. How many miles are you going in between cleaning? I'm at 8k and it still looks good.

We tell everyone if you have a kit already it's fine.
