JLT CAI meets with the BOSS and fits

We got ahold of a BOSS manifold for test fitting of our CAI.
Many people have reported it fits, it doesn't, it will if you do this... and so on, so we wanted to see for ourself.
Well, it fits as is, but may benifit from a silicone hump coupler for a perfect fit.
Using the coupler that comes with the kit we pushed it on the TB as far as it would go, going a little past the back stop on the top side.
The clamp fits just fine and grabs the TB lip.
Then on the tube side we push it in fully, adjust the tube so the filter is at it normal position and tighten the clamp.
It has enough room for the entire clamp to be on the silicone and behing the lip on the tube.
Actually very simple install, but I will be looking for something even better.
I will be overnighting a hump hose to see if it works better and if so, will offer it to our customers.

Just thought I'd pass on this bit of info seeing as how so many are buying the BOSS manifold and are wanting to know what will fit.
Thanks
Jay

Jay, would owners of your oil separator need to do anything to accommodate for the extra height of the manifold?

JLT and Boss all the way!

The JLT fits RIGHT up to the boss with no modifications and makes for a bad *** combo!

We went to the track again today with our 2011 Automatic GT with the NEW JLT plastic cold air intake and Boss Intake manifold... and here's how we did. Beautiful day, about 50 degrees, partly cloudy... track was prepped really ****ty, but it is what it is...

11.64 @ 117.75 MPH with 4.10 gears, off-road x-pipe, Boss manifold, L&M throttle body, JLT plastic CAI and Bama 93 Race tune, stock trans, stock manifold, stock converter, mickey thompsons with racestar industries wheels

10.43 @ 130 MPH with all of the same mods as above plus 150 shot from an NX wet kit, nozzle.

AmericanMuscle customer here

Congrats and had quick question:
1. When do you estimate the boss 302 tunes will be avail for am/bama customers?
2. Will you be sharing the dyno charts of boss 302 manifold on stock and cai cars? And did u see loss of power and tq below 6k rpm as some other's tunes?
3. I think you guys trapped 120mph and 11.6x with same tires, without the boss 302 couple months back. Was it just because of bad track prep?

Thx in advance

I don't want to jack JLT's thread. I'll answer your questions, since we used the JLT intake for our Boss Manifold testing. I'll be starting my own thread about the Boss manifold and about our dyno/track results early this week here on TMS.

1.) Boss 302 tunes are currently available.
2.) Dyno charts will be available early this week. We did see a mid-range loss just like everyone else, but we picked up as much as 58RWHP above 7000rpm. With the nitrous, this manifold REALLY wakes up. You need forced induction if you expect to keep your mid-range. We tapped the plastic JLT intake and shot 150 worth of NOS through it to make 520RWHP/495RWTQ SAE corrected through our automatic on our Dynojet 224xLC.
3.) ****ty track prep, plus the manifold really is only good above 7000rpm in every gear, so the time difference isn't going to be great (we went .04 faster). You're losing power from 3000-5000 and gaining power from 6500+ basically it evens out. Now if we did 150 shot with and without it, I'd say we'd notice a few tenths from the manifold.

Either way, the JLT plastic intake is the only perfect fit that we know of with the combination.

Other kits have couplers to trim or other modifications in order to make them work. The JLT bolts up like it was made for it.

OK, we did a full install today and have confirmed that a 3.5" ID X 3" long coupler makes fit perfect!
Now, it fits with the 2" coupler in the kit as many have shown, but the 3" fits even better.
We have some on order and will be offering them for sale, but you can also get them from Racepartsolutions.com

Thanks
Jay

has anyone tested the airraid intake with the boss manifold? Curious about that whether it will fit ok or if some ghetto engineering on a 45* silicone elbow coupler would be needed.

Thanks a lot for the info on the coupler. I ordered one and a couple of t-clamps to make the shipping costs worth while. Any concerns with using the t-clamps on your carbon fiber intake? I wouldn't think so, but I may as well get your opinion on it.

Yeah, I tested it personally. I just took off the Airraid and replaced it with a JLT! Fits like a glove!
