According to the C&D article, it sounds like the new Mustang (S550?) platform will have similar dimensions (but a slightly shorter wheelbase)...which means that the rear suspension might have the same dimensions. Alsothe test mule S197 cars rolling around looking very natural with the new IRS underneath...presumably because it fits, though obviously it could be a non-production unit with different axles or something....
So assuming this swap is possible, would you do it?
I like the idea a lot. The handling of the S197 cars is really superb with only mid-corner bumps ruining the fun. It's very tempting to think about getting rid of that problem. Also, the possibilities for more alignment adustments might take handling to a whole new level.
Thoughts?

Nah. One of the main reasons I got the Mustang was because of the sra vs the irs of the new Camaro...and I'm a GM guy. A buddy as broken a few axles and one reared in his new Camaro already.

The handling characteristics of the SRA in the current platform is more than good enough for me. I wouldn't invest in changing it out, which would be an expensive proposition.
