How different is a 5.0 with a tune?

I have an '06 GT right now and I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5.0. I've driven one before and it was a rocket ship compared to my car. The torque when you floor the gas really just throws you back in your seat and it just had power everywhere. I was just curious how much improvement a race tune would have? Is it pretty significant? I know on the '05-09's the throttle response is pretty sluggish in comparison and I've heard a tune really fixes that, so I'm just wondering what are the main benefits to a tune on a 5.0? Thanks guys!

Oh you'll feel a big difference. I got the 93 octane tune and was very happy with it.

Big difference! When I got my 2011 GT, there was no doubt for me that the car has lots of muscle and power. Then I had the Steeda CAI and 93 Octane Tune installed, and the car became really alive! From throttle response to torque and power... you can feel a SIGNIFICANT difference compared to stock. I am EXTREMELY happy with my Steeda Tune and its performance!

Ive rode and driven a couple times my buddys 5.0 with a tune. The first time bone stock and i thought that was fast. Once he loaded a 93 race tune from steeda i velieve it was, totally different animal. Throttle response was almost instantaneous. The power hit harder, lasted from right about 2-3k all the way to redline and it was just insane

So tempting...! I have put a tune on a couple of previous cars, however, they had turbos. I did not think a tune would make that much difference in a NA car but obviously I am wrong based on what some of you guys are saying. Sounds like the difference is very noticeable.

Insane does sound like the right word. That's almost hard to imagine, but I definitely believe what you guys are saying.

Night and day ...

The Steeda CAI Combined with the required custom tune using an SCT X3 Flash programming device we have achieved dramatic power increases of up to 44hp and 52ft/lbs of torque! Add a Boss intake and you will achieve even more HP.

Steeda tunes are safe and reliable. To date, we have had 0 issues with engine failures and warranty claims when our parts have been directly installed on consumers cars.

Email me at tim@steeda.com if you are interested in pricing or any other details ...

Wow, that's definitely impressive! What would be the HP/Torque gains without the CAI, just out of curiosity?

How many threads are you going to make regarding your curiosity of the value of a 2011+ GT over your '06? All the information you seek has been hashed out in this section of the forum. No one is going to talk you out of getting one - if you can afford it, and can trade your '06 in with decent financing, GO for it. What options are you looking for? There should be plenty for sale in your area, or in California in general, to find what you're looking for.

Tim,

How bad does the fuel economy suffer with your 93 tune?

Dont sweat it. Folks are welcome to not answer...

I traded my beloved 2009 GT for the 2011 and the new car was everything I loved about the old GT and a whole lot more.

You wont regret it!

As for your question in this thread, i had an early Bama tune in my 2011 GT but pulled it when people started cooking their pistons, a problem that appears to be a thing of the past. I did notice more power with that tune but quckly got used to the stock tune again and I feel that it offers plenty of wallop.

So, yes there is certainly a difference and new tunes are probably even better...but stock is still plenty of fun.

The 10/13 interior by itself is reason to trade up, the 05/09 interior is hideous!!!

This. And read first, ask questions after if you can't find your answer, which every question he's asked has been answer multiple times. I remember my first time on the Internet....

MPG check with Steeda 93 tune on 12' GT Automatic.

I routinely get 24-25 MPG in mixed, non spirited driving . So the guys getting Mustang 6 cylinders to get MPG like that baffles me. I'm doing the same thing and running low 12 seconds 1/4's consistent 10 out of 10 times.

You don't need to apologize. I love threads like these, you always get new insights.

I don't get people who think they need to police the forums. They need to get a life. How hard is it to simply not click a thread if it doesn't interest you?

Precisely. If you can swing the payments this is the iteration that finally put the Mustang ahead of the 'modern' competition (370z/G37, Evo X, 11+ STi, S5, Genesis Coupe V6 etc) - it's really another world compared to those cars, makes me proud.

I Was close to a 2009 Bullitt but I'm glad I put it off till 2011. The car is everything every mustang owner wanted.
