Good luck. Summer tires in extreme cold are always a bad idea. If you've ever tried some emergency braking tests on cold summers on a sub 30*F day your stopping distances are 2-3x longer. It's like driving on ice.
Me, I just have a cheap set of GT500 replicas and Dunlop Wintersport M3s that I run from late November to early March. Granted our winters in NOVA are probably a little harsher on average than Fort Worth.
I love the Wintersports because they are a performance winter tire. Excellent in light snow (4-5" or less) and they still have very good dry weather performance as long as it's under 40*F.

Bringing this back from the dead...has anyone tried those Michelins yet? How do the Super Sports compare to PS2s?
I'm also interested in the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars that come on the Brembo package verts...they're a good bit cheaper than the Pirellis, but are they less grippy/more flexy?

Have a few other buds running them with a variety of sports cars (Vette, Porsche, etc) and it seems like its the best street tire out there right now aside from maybe the RE-11/AD08... but those are really track tires that work on the street.

I've seen that thread before. I wouldn't put much weight into it. They pretty much discounted the chunking and chalked it up to abuse. It is a street tire first, track tire second.
