header wrap

Never wrapped a set before. Round about how much will it take to wrap a set of long tubes? Any brands that someone likes?

Any perticular reason why you would want to do that. I've never done it on any of my cars. Just curious.

I think you can do it with one pack of wrap but I wouldn't recommend it. Header wrap will hold moisture and make the headers rot out, even SS heades.

If you are doing it for reduced heat and increased performance you will be miles ahead getting them ceramic coated. I know it is more $$$ up front but less than replacing the headers.

Yep heat reduction

thanks for the heads up on moisture problems. Do any of the LT makers for the 5.0 offer ceramic coat?

A few offer it as an "option". I know Stainless Works offers to ceramic coat the headers for $400

Personally, I'd take the LT's to a local coating shop, and have them coat them. Typical pricing is $200-$300. I am getting my LT's coated currently before installing them. Shop does great work, they coat the inside and the outside of the manifold

I live in NH, and there are actually 2 shops within 25 miles that offer high quality coating.

You never know till you search

Look at it this way- if you take them to be done locally you get the excitement of receiving your headers twice!!

the more I read up on it and talk to people the less I want to bother with it. I'll probably go with a vented hood to cool things off before coating. Of course the wife might notice the un scheduled mod if I do that
