Good non harsh suspension setup?

Hi from the UAE,

I have a 2011 GT and the suspension currently installed is rock hard, it makes for an uncomfortable ride, I think it's an Eibach kit??

I don't care much but my wife says it has to change or she won't ride in it... I said OK! She didn't take kindly to that...

So I need something that you think is acceptable as a daily drive, it has to be a complete kit with struts, since part of the problem is the current kit is over dampened I think.

I'm not realistically going to use this on the track and I don't do auto-x, I just want a quality lowered ride.

Budget is +/- $1500.

If you didn't replace anything other than springs get some Koni STR.T's since they are none adjustable and grab CC plates while your at it to correct the camber/caster and provided a better hat for the shocks.

Yeah they're aftermarket shocks too, I want to replace the whole lot with a new softer kit, is there anywhere which does a kit inc koni, cc plates and good springs?

You could get coilovers which would but they will be expensive and kind of a waste. Are the shocks adjustable?

That's a good question. I wouldn't know.

Kitsan,

We can definitely get you to nice package for that budget ... our shocks/springs, springs & mounts package will be a great ride.

We have some great packages here - http://www.steeda.com/2011-2014-coilovers/

We have forum member discounts ... send me an email at tim@steeda.com & let's see what kind of pricing we can get you to.

I have no doubt that Steeda can get you to that comfort level & you will be very happy all the way around!

Hi Kitsan, and hello from Canada.

I have this kit from hypermotive that has coilovers and everything is adjustable so you can make it softer for street while maintaining some capability for cornering etc. You can adjust the compression/rebound for comfort. when you order it they'll ask you what kind of ride you are after and preset it at the factory.

http://www.hypermotive.com/ground-co...oilover-11-14/

I like it alot, and it doesn't rattle my teeth.

If harshness is the issue just be sure to get Koni's. Steeda sport springs with Koni SR.T is a great street combo.

Cheap coilovers are not going to leave you satisfied. Spend wisely as I am sure you don't want to do this again.

For a street car just adding Koni SR.T to the stock springs will transform the car.

And I agree on Ground Control being terrific but may be more that you want to spend. I have Ground Control on my car but I use it for track days. GC can set you up for street or track by helping you chose the right springs.

BMR SP009 springs. 1.5" drop, 165lbs spring rate. Softest aftermarket springs available, plus you get a decent drop. Too low for my purposes, unfortunately.

You should pair these with Koni STR.T shocks, an adjustable panhard bar to re-center the rear axle(BMR also good for this) and an adjustable upper control arm to reset pinion angle.

All of these parts would be $1,500.00 in the US, but shipping to the UAE would significantly increase that.

My Koni yellow sport shocks on the softest setting will put a child to sleep on a long drive its so smooth, while still giving great performance. I paired them with Steeda sport springs and wow what a combo!

Koni-STR.T and FRPP P-Springs.

Drop of 1", and trust me on a normal road with relatively small road imperfections it will ride just like stock, but corner amazingly with no roll or nose dive, very satisfied with my setup. potholes and bigger irregularities in road are the only times you will notice the difference between stock and this modified setup, but how harsh is hard to judge, depends from person to person, but honestly it is not going to make you thing "sh_t that was hard" unless you drive into a crater. From all the searching I did before I did my suspension work, the only 3 combinations that give a good quality ride, closest to stock, with really good performance are :
Koni STR.T + FRPP P-Springs Drop: 1"
Koni STR.T + Steeda Sport Springs Drop: 1" front 1.25" Back
Koni STR.T + BMR springs Drop: 1.5"

My 10 month old falls asleep every time he's in my car. I think that rumble and slight bounce from the Steeda's and Koni Yellows is just the right frequency to knock him out haha.

If you have any questions feel free to shoot us a pm. My questions would be, what are your goals with the Mustang?

If you're looking for a DD, BMR, hotchkis, Eibach pro kits are all great options. I really like the bilstein B12 kit as well. Koni yellows are also a great adjustable option. In the end, I'd like to know what you want out of the car to help build you a solid foundation.

How does the Koni STR.T compare to the FRPP shocks?

Running Koni Sports with Steeda sport springs here, along with the FRPP bump stops, Ground Control CC plates and BMR LCAs, relo brackets and Adj. panhard bar. Many a road trip and no complaints, smooth ride but with superb cornering ability; best upgrade by far.

I just purchased and installed Steeda's Ultralight package (shocks/struts, springs, and strut mount. I believe is was 1020.00 for the package, I really like the look and ride quality on this setup, just a bit rougher than stock but not that bouncy or super stiff ride. I'd suggest going w/ Steeda, I have read countless write ups and threads about Steeda's suspension before I made the decision and I am glad I did.
