Finally getting low 12's. Had a cooler day last weekend to race with and I was able to pull a 12.175 with a DA of about 800. I'm thinking with a cooler day in Sept. and with the perfect conditions, I might just be able to hit 11's. I also haven't been launching super hard as consistency is my goal. It's an auto and I don't get high on the converter at all. So I think I can even improve my 60ft as well by .03 - .04.

btw...for those concerned about shifting into 5th with 4.10's, in my AT, the car shifts into 5th about 50 ft past the stripe. So it really is pretty much the perfect gear for the setup I have.

 

Awesome!! any mods to the Tranny? I'm asking because we are getting back into the game and will be getting an auto trans.

 

Tranny and torque convertor are completely stock. For the auto's, this tranny handles the power perfectly fine. So you won't have any worries about it. I've thought about getting a higher stall converter maybe next year. But I like the consistency of just going slightly above idle, loading up the drivetrain just barely and then flashing the converter. Plus it's so much less wear and tear on the car. The converter actually flashes probably a few hundredths after you start moving, so the drivetrain is fully loaded and you're not slamming it violently like with the MT-82, or I fear with a higher stall.

So I'm on the fence still about that. On one hand it would be nice to maximize what I have so far, but like I said, the car just works so well right now that I'm also afraid of upsetting that balance. And the stock suspension actually handles it very well surprisingly.

 

Nice. Best '60 with tune and DR's with stock gears and going off idle was a 1.87 for me.
DA was 500.

 

Great run! Some LCA's and relocation brackets will help the car launch straighter and harder. That may be all you need for get the 60' down to run an 11 second pass. Your Mustang definitely has the power with it's current setup.

Have you done any weight reduction to get you there?

Remove passenger seat & rear seats
Remove mufflers (and support the tubing with some sort of hangers)

That alone would take away ~100lbs or so

How about taping up all your body panel gaps? Painters tape works well... Could even tape up part of the grill as you don't need much cooling for a 1/4 mile

Take off the side mirrors? I used to fold mine in (a couple cars ago...)

No weight reduction yet. I've thought about a few of those options though. I might pull the rear seats if I get close enough and need that extra few hundredths. But definitely good suggestions there!

That's probably true...but I go to the track every single weekend and have over 150 passes using Bama tunes and nothing has broken and my engine hasn't blown up yet, so I don't really want to be "testing" out another vendor yet to see if it has that same reliability lol.

 

Way to go... I haven't gotten my to track yet... hopefully when I get to Phoenix I can get to Firebird Raceway.

 

I am personally at 12.0 at 114 on my fully loaded, full-weight MT82 3.73 car, on a Hoosier slick with Roush upper, UMI non-adjustable lowers and GT500s, using the Procal 91 tune. That's a 5-6000 rpm launch so, don't be too worried about the driveline; I've done it over 100 times, so far.

You should be able to get there on your stronger tune, CAI and exhaust work. Keep at it.
