12.5 isn't really all that impressive.

Never ran on stock tires. That's just asking for trouble if you ask me. But my best is 11.2 @ 122 mph.

What are your mods that enable you to run 11.2?
I'm looking for low 12s with a tune and manual 3:31 lower control arms and summer tires

2011gt5.0....That is very reasonable on those mods. If you can get at least a 1.8/1.9 60' and good shifts, you ll get there.

Why is that asking for trouble? It seems to me drivetrains only break things when the tires grip real good. Wheel spin is actually easier on the drivetrain. Of course you will increase your ET but it certainly isn't asking for truoble. Not certain i follow the logic.

You're going deep into the 11's because you're running a nice converter. Without it your ET's would be much higher. The tune certainly isn't getting you to 11.2 by itself.

My car on street tires would be like driving on ice. As it is now with a drag radial and full suspension my car just blows the tires off. That's all I was referring to.

Correct the converter makes a huge difference. But before that I was able to run an 11.8 with a crappy 2.0 60'.

Of course I'm right. What is your launch rpm? With a ton of wheel spin your mph should be higher and your ET higher. Excessive wheel spin hurts ET and increases MPH. With that MPH I don't think you're blowing off your drag radials.

The reason your street tires are like driving on ice is because your converter is flashing up real high out of the hole. That shouldn't be a big surprise.

I think low 12's are reasonable. I ran stock on a cool night 12.8 with a 2.1 60foot time.

That being said the tune and ProCal alone is under $300 not 4-500, which makes it half the price of a tuner and tune from any reputable tuner.

I also disagree that it isn't night and day. Sure other tuners may add more power, but again at twice the cost and no warranty. It absolutely adds gobs of power down low and a nice amount to the top. I went from being dead even with my buddy and his e92 m3 to being a car ahead.
What gas were you running to get pinging? Just curious. I think I have a different definition of gobs of power. I have since added a VMP GEN 2 SC that would be gobs of power
When I did the procal the only way they told me I could keep the warranty was to have the dealer install it. What a joke $139 to push a couple of buttons. So it cost me about $480 for the tune. It just depends on how much power you want to add. All in all I think theses 5.0's are great motors and pretty fun to drive regardless. I just did not notice a lot of difference with the gas I am running.

Procal added a little power. I hear it is only like an 8HP gain. I believe it also adds close to 60 ft/lbs. of torque. The biggest change I saw was throttle response, shift points (for the auto's), etc.

$480 for 8hp? save your money and take the wife or girlfriend or both out to dinner and have a better time after you get home.
If its all about warranty, Just wait the five years for the tune. You can start with doing suppenision & tires up-grades. So when the time comes, you can down load a Good tune. Your stang will be ready for that power upgrade.

To be honest: There are some really good tunes that are safe out there.
Just my 2 cents. First deciede which direction you want to go with you car. Install parts that fit your need. Power should be added towards the end and go from there to make a full package for your car.

Enjoy your ride!!

It's 16hp peak, 60lbs at 1500 and it's only $299.

Net gains aside, it improves the driveability significantly plus you get a warranty. Why wait 5 years when you can enjoy the improvement today? $299 compared to the price of the car is nothing and you can still take the wife and / or girlfriend to dinner.

I was correcting a post that stated it was 8 but I'm sure you knew that.

Obviously you're not a fan of the tune but there's a poster in this thread turning 11.91 with tires and a stick and nowhere near the mods you have. I'd say that's not too bad for what we all know is a very conservative tune.
No one buys this tune expecting maximum performance. You buy it for a bump in performance, better throttle response and the warranty. That's why I got it and I'm sure most of the people who run it bought it for the same reasons. It's a nice tune.

Show me where it is a 16HP bump for a 13/14 5.0. Maybe 16 for a 11/12.

I understand your point since the 13/14 received an 8 hp bump over the 11/12. I thought I read somewhere that the increase was due to the elimination of the squirters (and not the tune?) if that makes sense. But FRPP still states specifically, 16hp for the 2011-2014 and that's the number I quoted.
