Clutch line swap- braided JHR etc for daily driving

All,

I've been reading up some on the braided clutch lines available for the MT82. the vast majority of the reviews are in regards to high RPM pedal issues due to the restriction.

I've noticed the clutch actuation seems somewhat inconsistent in daily driving. often when I shift it is smooth [enough] but occasionally it is balky & clunky, basically it seems the clutch isn't absolutely perfect w/ disengagement and the transmission protests. The timing seems to vary somewhat. if I think I have the pedal in the sweet spot sometimes I get that annoying shift feel, not quite a grind but a thunk or balky noise, other times it is good.

Does the braided line, with the lack of orifice restriction, improve or change the clutch disengagement for daily driving? does it make it more consistent or perhaps raise it ever so slightly off the floor on the quicker shifts? I'm not talking about the gear slamming, high rpm, shifting. Just a quick daily driving thing. I would think even on the daily driving type of clutch pedal movements the orifice would delay the throwout bearing actuation. perhaps the braided lines would help.

thanks

From my understanding of the clutch disengagement issue it's related to high rpm only. Braided steel is good to reduce line flex and give a former pedal but since HYD fluid is essentially incompressible it shouldn't change the rate of fluid flow much or at all to support better disengagement. Haven't fully thought his one thru but my gut feel is no difference. I have yet to experience any clutch disengagement issues with my car and I have been to 6800 or so RPM many many times. Granted I have never driven a car back to back with and without SS clutch line. I have driven back to back with SS brake lines and in daily driving I felt no dofference

I think the OP was referring to the larger fittings that the braided lines have which open the flow of the clutch fluid more than stock. The stock fittings are restrictive from all the vids I have seen on YouTube. One day I will also change this speedbump in my quest for the perfect shifting muscle car.

Yes, thanks. that was my intent.
I too want a quality shifting modern muscle car. I've just been entirely disappointed in what I ended up with...

Smile

I had a performance shop next to house install it, It took 30 mins for the technician to install it, I asked him to use the stock line heat shield on jhr, he was able to do it, I have driven my car for 2 days.

It improves clutch feel, clutch release is very smooth, especially from 1 to 2, to be more accurate, clutch is no longer a ON/OFF pedal, it smoothly engages and disengages.I was able to shift smoothly at high rpms close to redline without any issues.
It slightly stiffens the pedal, but it is not noticeable.
It also reduced a bit of clunk noise I had before when shifting coz of partial clutch disengagement.

My friend and I go to gym everyday in my car and he noticed that shifting is not jerky like it used to be before.

Finally this is a must have upgrade, I should have done this long time ago.
