Just came back from the dealership. On monday they'll place my order for a Performance White Premiun GT. Chose that over a GT with BBP. Now I read you lose suspension tuning, a strut brace and AdvanceTrak tuning (together with the wheels and brakes of course). Thing is that it's stretching my budget to go all out.
Since I just enetered the US auto market, let me ask you this. Do you think we'll see third party AdvaceTrak upgrades in the future that equal BBP tuning? And also what is meant with upgraded suspension? Different shock abosrbers or something?
I was planning to sell off my 18" and order a set of 19" RTR wheels in the future. But I'd have to order tires too then and I'll be able to get more for the stock 19's. ****, I'm talking myself into a corner.

Think it's worth while the extra amount?

Unless you plan on tracking the car, or need heavy brakes- Brembos aren't necessarily worth it. Plus by you saying you're just going to sell the rims, the rim choice included in the brembo package apparently isn't of major concern to you... So what's your factors behind wanting the brembo package?

MT's test of 60 mph to 0 with brembo brakes was 105ft. Standard GT braking was 108ft. Wont make or brake you...

And from what I read, there's only very slight damper tweaks. And spring rates and bars are the same.

If you want better stopping power new pads would be a better choice. Brembo's just offer a better resistance to wear over heavy track-style breaking.

And advanceTrac comes on all GT's. At least premiums if not base (not sure)...

Hit the button once and the traction control turns off but the electronic stability control stays on.
To go to sport mode hit the button twice and sport mode lights up in the information range briefly. The yellow traction control light stays light. This mode allows the car to spin the tires more and accepts a greater yaw rate.
Hold it for 8 seconds or so and EVERYTHING turns off. Advancetrac, traction, and stability.
Sport offers the best of both worlds...

And you can get a strut tower for like 120ish I believe...

Actually, spring rates are stiffer on the BBP vs. std. GT.

OP, I don't know if the Advancetrac will see updates or not. I can't recall any tuner working on more aggressive TCS tuning, but it would be nice. I know the research and the validation process for that type of stuff is pretty intense, and in order to dial it in like the OEM does would take a lot of time/money.

What would be interesting to see, if you could snag an ECU from a BBP vehicle, if it would work properly and add in the tuning for the Sport mode, as well as more aggressive EPAS settings. I can't tell you definitively if there is a difference in the EPAS setup, but I would infer there would be with the increase in wheel diameter and improvements in the suspension.

Well, unfortunately, the package is marketed differently than it should be IMO. It's listed as a Brembo brake package, but fails to mention anything other than the brakes, wheels, and tires. Like the Track Pack option on the 2010s, it added a stiffer suspension and unique ESC tuning. Without looking at the parts list or diving further, you won't know these things.

 

If you think you might want it you should get it, otherwise you'll regret it later on.

My last car was a sports car so I wouldn't ever consider a 5.0 without the Brembo package. The brakes, wheels, and suspension and advance trac tuning really make the car for me. I don't ever want to drive a 5.0 without it! And you're only paying around $1600 for a package that gives you so much more.

From what I can tell you're trying to rationalize not getting the Brembos... don't do that. Just get them, you won't regret it!

You just proved my point. No mention of the suspension changes, which, for $1600 total, come in as a steal. Considering other optional wheels are $1000, the extra $600 gives you a lot for the money.

Not off hand. PTRocks confirmed that the part numbers are different for the springs on the BBP, as well as the shocks/struts in another thread.

 

I agree with you but other than wheels that look cool how much performance improvement are you really getting for $1800?

We know -3ft 60-0 but what does the tune provide? And the spring rates and bushings? 1.0g? Or from .95 to .96? and a stiffer ride?

The build site itself talks about "Unique ESC Tuning" ... But still no mention of the specifics as to what's different within the tune. It could be based on the wider tires which would allow it be a tad looser? Just a guess... Something to keep in mind tho: ESC does not improve a vehicle's cornering performance, it just helps minimize the loss of control.

Also something to consider OEM brembo brake pads are $208. Stock pads are $66. I believe CarbonTech pads are like 125-150ish...
