Has anyone had the thought of whether the Launch Control feature of the Boss is part of the design of the ECU? And, naturally, if installing one into the GT's might allow this feature to work? It seems the pedal and button pushing that's going on to use it on the Boss's is already there on the GT's and highly likely the wire provisions are already there too. So it's making me wonder abit. I like that feature...

 

At first glance, I would say yes. But putting an ecu from a boss into regular 5.0 would be more detrimental since the boss ecu is made to acommodate a diffferent cylinder head and camshaft among other differences. Maybe that can be corrected with a tune? Maybe there is too much of a difference between motors to simply tune it out to a regular 5.0? Just MHO and speculation. Anybody else with more first hand knowledge on tuning differences between the regular 5.0 and the boss' engine can help.

 

Yeah, I see your thinking. My guess is is that the provisioning doesn't exist in the GT's ECU. Which makes me believe simply writing over a Boss ECU's map into the GT's won't catch it. Now re-tuning a Boss's ECU to run with a GT's hardware seems somewhat believable. Who know's, but I'm certain tuner folks are considering a number of things on the table with the release of the Boss.

 

You can get pretty much the same affect with the sct tuner (not sure about the others) or as some have posted about already, the WOT box.
