I currently have Magnaflows which IMHO are too quiet until you get on it.. As for drone, I've noticed that it's present below 2200RPM but at 2200 and above it's no longer noticeable..
At any rate, from the sound clips I've listened to.. I like the sound of the Corsa's and Borla's the most, as for drone ? I agree with Patrick regarding the Corsa's for being the best choice.. Therefore when the time comes to upgrade, I'll eventually make the switch to Corsa

I have the Ford Racing SVT Sport mufflers and are like the GT500 mufflers in their deep tone only louder. These are different in tone than the regular Ford Racing Sport mufflers and you can tell the differing tones in person. I absolutely love them in conjunction with the quad pipes. When I added the Kooks side pipes you could wake the dead at WOT and still 0 drone.
Sean - are your FRPP SVT Sport Mufflers the ones with the Ford Racing logo inscribed on the tips? If so, they look great. Smaller chamber area, I think. If you have a sound clip of your set-up, would love to see/hear it. But I think they cost $ double the FRGT500. Plus, I don't want/need my neighbors hating me, so I can't go much louder.

Here are some sound clips before the engine went though

I had the GT500 axlebacks too and loved them, but after getting used to them, they were too quiet for me. I changed to Borla S type mufflers, I have no drone and they have a deep tone like the GT500s, but a lot louder. I like them better now, and like the GT500s, they are quiet too till you stomp on it.
This will always be reality of having mufflers at the back and an engine that loves high revs. To make it sound muscly at low revs, you make it stupid loud at high revs. Really tough to balance that. This is why the fairly wheezy 4.6 3v sounds more badass with mufflers only, comparatively.
This is why I went with the Solo Performance catback. I never cared for the rear muffler design on the S197. Solo has a unique offering in that they have a mid muffler setup, similar to the Mac Prochamber. Behind the cats, instead of a traditional X-pipe, they have their Mach X dual in/dual out 9" muffler, with X-pipe built in.
Then the rest of the catback goes to their J-pipe axle back muffler deletes, which allow you to fine tune the drone away (depending on your gears, transmission and usage).

Or you can get side pipes which makes the car sound fantastic. The aural experience from them with the side pipes wide open is unreal. With the Kooks side pipes though the sound intensified and you got this deep tone coming from them and the sound just piped it right into the cabin.

Sean, you are so right. I've been at the track several times with different Boss LS guys, several have had Kooks headers, not to mention other exhaust work - and the sound is amazing. I will try my best (emphasis on 'try') to stay as close behind them as I can (not for long, I'm out-gunned), and I could listen to that all day. Forever, actually. Delicious!
Op - sorry to hi-jack the thread, I know you want info on drone. I provided my feedback earlier in the thread, with videos. Good luck!
Borla "S" axlebacks do not drone. In my opinion they are a little louder than GT500's, which I think sound fantastic as well. I just recently had my resonators deleted and installed the JBA 3" to 2 3/4" h-pipe, and still no drone. Doing this gave me the sound I was hoping for.
Don't get me started. Black is a love/hate relationship. It's the only thing about my Mustang that I'm not 100% crazy about. But when it's clean (and it always is) there's nothing that looks as impressive.
Except the Oxford White... but I'm a race-ist. Both colors of course leave those others GHIG with envy.
I have 2x Black 2014 GT's... They both get washed every single day, and the full treatment every week.

I can run any axel back I want with NO Drone.
Why.... because my car is not Black.
also when I'm looking at my clean stang i still dont hear any drone.
Maybe if you stop washing your stangs so much the drone will go away.
Just busting.
Now back to your regular scheduled Drone thread.
I have Roush / Cat delete and they do have a drone. A very LOUD Drone.
