Barton shifter bracket very noisy

Barton shifter bracket very noisy
I had the Barton 2-post shifter bracket installed in my Boss today. It did improve the shifting (stock shifter) but it also significantly increased the noise coming up thru the shifter. Barton says to put Dynamat on the trans tunnel. Anyone else had this issue?

A little bit of dynomat will do that trick. Your going from something that was designed to help reduce NVH and you switched to something firmer and with a different purpose in mind.

Same with my MGW. At first I thought I installed something wrong. Gotta pick up more dynamat. Anyone know where to pick some of the better kind up beside a local stereo shop

I installed the MGW shifter, and have quite a bit of noise too. The stock shifter attaches at the rear using a significant amount of soft rubber, which absorbs most of the noise. My installation provided dynamat, and I don't get road noise or heat, but since the rear support of the shifter is now solid (no rubber) and attaches directly to the steel under the car, I believe the noise is transmitted directly to the floorboards. MGW provided a piece of thin rubber to put under the rear support, but said it makes very little difference.

lets clarify that... it makes little difference in "feel" but it does do a good job of lessening the noise. so i would put it in if you want it quieter.

yes and if you have an earlier build then call us up and get one no charge!!
also we have determined our heat shield is a MUST for noise so i am making t5hem in MUCH higher volume and going to actually just bump the cost of the shifter only 15 dollars instead of 25.
