4.10 6M Owner Opinions
Hi all -
I know that there have been multiple discussions about this so apologies in advance. But since I have not been able to find any recent threads, I just wanted to get opinions on anyone that has gone to 4.10's in the 6MT. I'm about 3 weeks away and leaning towards the 4.10's over 3.73's (have 3.31's right now) and would love to hear from anyone that's been driving with them for a while now.
Aside from rims/tires and suspension mods, this probably the last performance mod for me for a few years. It is my DD but rarely used on the highway unless for a weekend trip to the beach or something. Just looking for some street fun and good bang for the buck. Dont plan on racing so the shift to 5th in 1/4 isn't a concern right now.
Thanks everyone....

I have an 11' 5.0 with 4.10 6mt. I think they are Wayyy to much, constant shifting unless u skip gears. During regular acceleration I shift.. 2,4,6.. When I first installed the gears I also did a few other things and ended up with 446rwhp and 415 rwtq. I would spin through 3 gears when trying to accelerate fast on the stock tires. I had to get 18x10 rims rear with 305/45/18 mickey Thompson et street 2 drag radials. N did nitto 555s in front.. Forgestar cf5 matte black rims.. 18x9 in front, 18x10 rear. It's a struggle to spin the wheels now.. I wish I would have went with 3.73s. The trans comes with steep gears also in these cars.

I like a lot of gear, traditionally. Had 4.30's in my '03 Mach 1 (MT) and 4.10's in my '07 GT (AT). With my '11 5.0L and 3.73 gears on a 28" tall drag radial, 4th gear hits redline at 122 mph, and I'm trapping 115-117 in the 1/4 mile already, so 3.73's is perfect. I'd have to shift into 5th (bad idea) if I had 4.10's. Even for the street, like the OP was asking, the 3.73's rip through the gears quickly due to the steep transmission gearing so 4.10's might be too much. I never thought I'd say 4.10's are too much gear!

Because they are too short for the street, but they are great from autocross racing.

They're too short for the autox events I run as well. I find myself needing third more than I'd like.
