Also, if you have other tunes at your disposal, you might toss your stock airbox in the trunk with the few tools needed to swap. After a run with Tune and CAI, toss the stock airbox on and load a Tune for the stock airbox and take another run down the track.
When I ran with the CAI and Tune, the best I could do was a 13.1 at 109, 1.90 60fts. Switched to the stock airbox and w/o tune, ran the same time. Loaded a Tune with the stock airbox, car ran a 12.8 and 12.9 at 111mph.
After that weekend, I left the stock airbox installed and threw that garbage Steeda CAI in the trash, as all it did for me was make air sucking noises, and I'm not much for undesired noise.

I have a revised tune for the CAI and Im planning on retrying it.But this time I'm bringing Stock Equipment

Kn,
That is interesting to hear form your feedback ... what kind of tune were you running?
Our dyno tells a completely different story in regards to numbers ... 5.0 Mustang had our CAI and Tune on it and it had pretty impressive numbers.

Just curious as to what tune you were running and how the stock airbox and tune were the same as the CAI/Tune.
Best Regards,
TJ

I m going to try a couple of runs this week completely stock and if I hit the same numbers or better. Then I m going to be looking for a new tune.
Swap higher gears in the rear end, it really wakes up the car. It is my next mod, i drove in one that had 3.73s with an auto.. plants u in the seat... hard.. remember that we have 3.15s stock for better fuel economy.
We have 3.15's because of the gearing in the transmissions. Anything over a 3.31 gear will have you shifting into 4th before the stripe. The fastest N/A auto runs 3.31 gears. You want to wake up your auto? Get a converter.
Here is a video that we did with an in-car camera
In car camera of Scott Boda at SGMP 9/3/10 in the Steeda sport 2011 Mustang 5.0. Steeda Cold Air, Tune and 17" Nitto's. Full weight, no skinnys, 6 speed manual with 3.73 gear
11.96 @ 115.18mph with a 1.724 sixty foot.
I am not telling you guys anything that you don't know ... but there are many variables that go into a 1/4 mile time including most importantly the driver.
Take this for example ... some may get better numbers on a stock tune because it makes less power and will have less wheel spin vs. a tune and CAI.
A 1/4 mile time is a real world example but there are many variables driver to driver to provide an accurate "norm".
Different day ... same car .. different driver and this is what was achieved:
11.88 Quarter Mile Run - 2011 5.0L Mustang - Steeda CAI and Mail Order

I would not expect any company that sells a CAI to give a non-CAI Tune as much attention and tuning time as a Tune that works with their own CAI. I'm not blaming anyone, it's just that in my otherwise stock car the AM Tune ran better than with any Tune and the Steeda CAI being installed.
One other thing, when I loaded the Steeda Tune I found that the my automatic shifted almost twice as hard as with the BAMA Tune during normal driving state, which made it almost unusable on the street, making the $60 I spent for a Tune from Steeda a one-time use. Overall this is a small price to pay for experimentation at the drag strip.

Steeda Cai & steeda 93 tune here with drag radials 12.20s (12.18 best) back to back to back. Autos are extremely consistent and will beat the manuals 9/10 mod for mod. ...... tuned/ converter Autos with DR's are going 11.30s/11.40s at my track.
Good luck and let us know who you went with for the tune and tire set-up, if applicable.
